Didn't actually play this game, but AC-I was so repetitive that I didn't bother finishing it. I'll pass.

The story of this game is amazing... the game play even better... however there are some serious issues with the programming of this game. After the install my PS3 became much much slower, at times the console would freeze. i never had this problem before. Still now my playstation is much slower and i haven't played the game in ages.

The game has quite a few gliches in it as well.. some of which make the game freeze or make it otherwise unplayable. Ive read a few reviews and a lot of people are having issues like this. Im sure ubisoft will send patches that will fix the problem but i recommend not purchasing the game until they get the issues resolved.

I returned my purchase to amazon, and i plan on buying the game again once ubisoft resolves their poor programming issues.

I think AC2 is MUCH better than the last one. I don't want to make a detailed review so heres what I think: This game is great. The setting, characters, missions, music, etc all are very well done. The Renaissance Italy recreation is beautiful and detailed. The game also gives you history lessons on renaissance Italy as you play which is very interesting. There is so much stuff to do in this game and its not as horribly repetitive as the first assassins creed. Building the value of Monteriggioni and raiding assassin tombs are really fun side quests. This will be the first game I platinum because its so fun. Although an awesome game no game is perfect. My only complaints were that the game was way too easy and sometimes the game freezes up (when doing double kill etc.). DLC is coming soon so hang onto it if you enjoyed it like I did.

the game is very vague, the figuring on the game dont really seem to have a purpose it reminded me of the 80s

First of all the game is poorly executed (for instance all the combats are a joke - e.g. you attack 10 soldiers and 9 are watching while you bang the 10th one to death) and boring (you have to run around forever over and over again for the same things, feathers, treasures etc.).

Second of all the game is very disrespectful to the religion that shaped our civilization and society for over two thousand years (you are a muslim hood killing christians culminating in killing the Pope in the Saint Paul cathedral while he is celebrating the mass; according to the game the pope has the bible for nothing and under the cathedral there are no bones of St. Peter but a living pagan goddess Minerva that warns you about "the cross").

We all know the outcry of the Muslim world at the publishing of Mahomet caricatures in Denmark. I wonder what would have happened to this Muslim development team were they to move from France to let's say Saudi Arabia and release a game about a christian killing muslims and religious heads in Mecca sacred grounds and "discovering" that the muslim faith is baloney.

I am not religious but this stupid disrespect for any religion makes me not to buy any Ubisoft game again.

Fun stuff here. The addition of the Uplay downloadable content is very cool. The game feels better than the first. The fighting is a little tighter and the climbing is faster/smoother. Overall it was very fun and pleasing. The only negatives are the future downloadable content, because it will probably cost more money. Also if you did not pre-order with gamestop you missed out on an additional secret level. Also you cannot yet replay completed assassinations. There is a petition on Ubisofts site for this, but we have yet to see this fix. Still with all these little complaints, I am very pleased with the game as a whole.

This game is not compatible with the PS3 firmware v3.1. The game freezes! According to Ubisoft Forums, this is happening to everyone. Don't waste your money until Ubisoft or Sony fix the problem.

Impressive production values and a well designed sandbox atmosphere with a critically flawed control system that, combined with timed scenarios, completely ruined my experience. The jumping scheme is so poorly implemented for an analog controller that it is literally a dice role what direction the character will end up moving in far too often. Of course the game has nothing but positive feedback, so maybe I am supposed to find this kind of thing fun. If you love stressful reflex oriented mechanisms seasoned with graphic violence and convoluted drama then ignore this review. Its all far too masochistic for my taste. Cheers.

I played the first installment of this game to the end. My main complaint for that one is the same for this one. I was fighting with the controls the whole time I played it. Here are a couple of examples. If some guards saw me, I could choose to run away. This is one option the game gives you and you can scale a wall and get up on top of the buildings. The problem with this is that I would just end up running to a wall, jump up the wall and then off it into the crowd of guards. Fighting the guards was not a challenge (another issues, as you can just button mash), and one could get through that fairly easy, but due to the problems of these controls, it's closing off one entire part of the game's design. Another example if that of the the way the player walks and runs. The player uses the left thumbstick [L3] to make Ezio (the main character) move. Then, to make him walk faster to run faster, the player will use these different controls; walk faster = 'X', run = 'R1', sprint = simultaneous press 'X' and 'R1.' If this seems convoluted, that is my point. This all could have been mapped to the left thumbstick [L3] with pressing it down to sprint. I found myself dealing with frustration more than enjoying the story or environment. The end result was that I didn't play more than about 6 to 8 hours of it. (If you think I shouldn't be reviewing a game I didn't finish; I'm not going to play a game that has game breaking controls unless I work as a gaming journalist, and in that case, I wouldn't be writing a review here.) The game's story is fairly entertaining and if you had played the first one and didn't mind the controls, you will end up liking this one, but if you haven't played the first one and are thinking of picking this up, I would pass and get something different.

This game is certainly an improvement over the original and is quite a fun game to play which is well detailed in other reviews. I am giving it a lower "fun score" since the story made it much less fun for me than Assasins's Creed I. While the developers have included a disclaimer that the game is a work of fiction and was developed by people of varying cultures, there is a fair amount of information in the game presented as history. The game is a violent game and deserves the Mature rating. I think most people would probably like this video game, if you like this genre. But in my opinion, if you are Catholic, you may not find it a welcome addition to your video game library. I personally would not have purchased this game if I knew the ending in advance, which is the only reason I am posting this review, as it has not been commented on yet. I have deleted my spoiler about the ending, but I am sure you can find it reviewed online elsewhere.

The AC I was the first game I bought for PS3. I had to swap it twice, because it freezed a lot. However, it's a good game. Then I rented AC II, thinking that Ubisoft would not fall in the same mistake. I was wrong: As soon as I tried to fall over a pole from the roof (there are poles like this near the roof, which actually crosses with Ezio's legs when he is hanged), the game freezed. Ok, I restarted the system and intentionally did it again, only to confirm the bug. The second time was when I'd just killed Vieri: Ezio just stopped! I could move the camera, access the map, pause the game, everything but walk and use the weapons.

I'd really like to buy this game, but it's so annoying restarting it over and over and over. It's ironic that I don't have problems with any other games, even from Ubisoft, just with AC. My firmware version is the last one. I'm giving 4 stars for potential fun (actually, I did not have) and 1 star for overall.

The first Assassins Creed was by far better then this sequel. It's the most slow and boring beginning to game that I've ever played. By the time I got to the interesting parts of the game and gained the equipment and skill upgrades you should have started the game with, I was already bored and sick of the game. There are far better games out right now like the sequels to Modern Warfare and Uncharted. Both Modern Warfare 2 and Uncharted 2 are flat out better games that are way more fun to play than this highly over-rated sequel. Whatever critics gave this game perfect reviews should find new professions and start playing more video games so maybe they'll have an idea of what a good game is.
