So I saw this controller and I thought it was an official Dual-Shock II wireless. Turns out it was made by Katana but they have Sony's backing. I really like this controller so far. I haven't had it for too long but it works great. It comes in two parts, a wireless controller and a receiver. You plug the receiver into the controller port and turn on the PS2 and the controller. And then you sit ANYWHERE WHERE YOU WANT and enjoy the game. I'm not lying about that either. You can move pretty far with this. I have a large gaming room and I've been able to play at least from the other side of the room. It's kinda impractical to play so far away but it's nice to know that the signal is strong. Overall I've had the freedom to move around all around the area and I've still got a great signal. I have a really inconvenient table in the way of my consoles and I've even been able to get a signal even through the table. So I like that. It also never has any problems with the d-pad and it really just feels like the DSII. Without the cords I don't have to worry about the problems that occur when I `m playing. I get excited a lot and sometimes my controller pops out. I've been lucky that it hasn't done that while I've been saving or loading but really it helps that I don't have to worry anymore. As far as I can tell there are various vibration settings and I can tell that if you turned it up more then you'll have to sacrifice more battery life. But you can also turn it off. The only part that I'd worry about is if this happened. You'll know the battery's dying if the vibration stops. When that happens I'd advice you to quit playing and get some new batteries or recharge them or whatever you do. I have a theory that if let's say you run out of power and you're saving, it might be the same as removing the controller, which can corrupt data. The controller has a "sleep" mode when after five minutes of being idle it'll shut off. It's nice. Because at the very least the controller is not on all of the time draining all of my battery power.

There are Black, Silver, and Blue colors but heck that doesn't matter as long as there's never a pink. The only cons I can think of are that it's ever so slightly larger in comparison to the dual shock II but it's larger because of the battery pack. The sleep mode while nice is annoying for when you want to turn off the controller. So far I have to wait for to shut off even after I turn my PS2 off. I wish overall that there was a simple on/off mode or button or something. Other than that it's a very great controller. No problems yet but I don't expect any. It's worth the money.

Excellent product allows you to sit on your couch or bed while playing the PS2. I have had no trouble parring the device to the console and connection has not yet been interrupted during game play. The end of the receiver lights up blue to tell you that it is connected and functioning, or flashes if it cannot find the controller (ie, before inserting batteries). Additionally the controller has the vibrate on/off buttons to save battery life.

Closest thing I've found to a wireless DualShock on the ps2. Well what can I say about this officially licensed controller? It gets the job done. The controller feels cheap compared to any of the DualShocks, and it takes 3 AAA batteries. The only other problem is with the joysticks. The problem is that the surface is flat and it feels like your thumb might slip off, and also pressing the L3 and/or R3 makes it feel like the batteries might pop out. For your convenience here are my gripes in list form.

Pros:

-Works well

-Buttons are nice and responsive

Cons:

-Feels cheap

-3 AAA batteries

-Flat joysticks(feels like thumb might slip off)

If any of these problems is a detractor you might want to look elsewhere for a controller.

This is better than Verizon. I been with PSP2 since PSP2 begin. This is the first time that I have went wireless. As a result, it's AWESOME!! The connection is great, easy plug and play and no cords for the kids to stumble over. Great product and a great buy. Oh yeah, did i mention, "NO CORDS!!"

first i want to point out that this controller is by far better than the popular logitech.

Some reasons are:

-Pressure sensitivity works unlike the logitech which is almost impossible to get it right

-size is just right, a little bigger than the dualshock 2 but not as bulky as the logitech

-weight is perfect,logitech is heavy

Cons

3 AAA batteries, but it works for making it less bulky than the competition, so its all good

I like the silver to match my silver console, and I like the wireless because of keeping the family room a little more tidy. I'm a stickler for keeping things neat, so this really helps. I think the silver is a nice look, adds dimension beyond just the standard black color. I did get one black and one silver though, so when playing head-to-head, they can't get mixed up.

Great quality, response, ergonomics, just as if it was wired.

This is an officially licensed Sony product which I didn't know. It works great even from far away. Immediate plug and play no fine tuning. Perfect pressure sensitive button response. I am happy with it.

All in all, I would buy this controller again. There are a few annoyances, one being that it requires 3 AAA batteries. I read one review here about the R2 and L2 buttons getting stuck, I tried it, and the commenter is correct. If you squeeze down hard on them they can slide up a bit and get stuck in the controller housing. It's easily popped back out, and I honestly have never done that while playing. My other gripe is the analog sticks have a rubber coating, but they're quite slippery. Those points aside, it's still a great controller that has been completely reliable and the analogs have been perfectly accurate for me (that's always risky with 3rd party stuff, licensed or not.) Also, the buttons are a lot more tactile than the Dualshock 2, that controller's buttons were rather mushy. One last aspect worth mentioning is that the controller has a sort of coating on it that makes it nice to the touch and prevents it from becoming slippery. Between this controller and Logitech's wireless controller, it's a bit of a tossup. I like and dislike certain aspects about each one.

I bought a pair of these for the obvious advantage: no wire. I was pleasantly surprised by the other improvements that I discovered.

The analog control sticks don't have the rubber grips on them. This was an added surprise because the fact that drove me to buy new controllers in the first place was that these grips had worn off and it was annoying. The control sticks are solid plastic with a texture to aid grip.

The buttons seem sturdier. Yes, I am a button masher. I have stuck more than one "triangle" key in my day. The directional buttons and the other buttons are much resilient and durable that the "standard" controllers. Another welcome surprise.

If you're looking for a comparable controller to the stock ones that come with the PS2, this is definitely worth a look.

What a fantastic product. The silver controller matches the silver console and plays every bit as well as its competitors. The product arrived quickly and functions as advertised. If you're looking for a wireless PS2 controller, this is really the only choice.

I purchased this device used as it was in excellent shape when I received it. I was a bit skeptical at first but It works excellent with my games! I had to place it in the 1st. slot when used solo. Plug and play! It worked perfect, auto mapped my custom settings and excellent signal reception!

I am an adult male and my job requires frequent travel. The PS2 goes with me and the controller helps keep the wire mess down. Highly recommended!

It's a gift for my big bro's Christmas present and he said it's awesome! I like it myself with the silver color, the look of the buttons and how big the controller is.

I have one of these in black. I thought I was ordering a silver one to go with my silver slim but when I got it and tried it I loved it. I didnt bother to return it for a silver one. I plan on buying two silver ones and keeping this black one for a back up. I also have a logitec wireless controller and prefer this to that. Actually my two year old son plays games along with me using the logitec (no batteries in it). wont be going back to logitec. This even has the PS2 logo on it LOL.

I bought a set of these "New In Box" off a guy on Ebay. I know they were new because there were no openings on the seams (one of those "sealed like Fort Knox" kinda packages). Anyway I got mine in the mail and opened them up. First thing I noticed was the odd-style D-pad. They tried to combine a circular rocker switch with the "Four Diamonds" style typical of Playstation. I dunno about the rest of you, but I find that style of D-pad to be really uncomfortable, and prefer the classic "Full Cross" from the NES/SNES days.

The D-pad could've been so much easier to use, had the thing actually been one full piece, instead of having that wierd sunken-in "X" You can't really move your thumb in quick circular motions (critical for 2D fighting games) and since there's that empty groove in the middle, you can't do quick Left/Right motions either (well, without feeling like you're gunna break the D-pad).

The bottom L/R buttons also feel like they're not very strong, like if you pushed them hard enough or the right way, they might get stuck. The Square, Circle, Triangle, X buttons also feel thicker and harder to push than the stock Dual Shock controllers and the Right Analogue Stick feels looser than the Left one. Negative critique aside, I do applaud them for moving Start / Select to the upper face of the controller, because where they were on the stock Dual Shock made them very hard to access.
