Truly the best racing game I have played in quite a long time.

Worth getting. Don't listen to the dude who rented the game, I bet he rented a bad console as well !! :-)

Great trucks, great game play, excellent graphics. Most certainly worth the bucks!

Get it.

This is one of the best games i have ever played. The graphics are amazing, and the tracks and realisticism is AWESOME. and this isnt a short little game that takes you a day to beat...there are over about 1,000 tracks and for each track you win u get more and more money, and you can buy all different types of cars and parts for your car. I advise any racing fans to buy this imidiatly. My friend before i got this said i should know a lot about cars...but i didnt know much and i still am having fun, so dont worry about knowing a lot about cars...in the game it tells you about it. BUY THIS GAME.

I had became bored with the game, because I didn't realize you could go way off course and find fun stuff to do. Those who were bored with the game probably thought you had to stay on the track and play nice. I am also pleased by the selection of vehicles in the game. I drive a 4x4 Tacoma, it was nice to finally be able to drive one in a game. I've heard some people thought the computer opponents were too hard, but I've found the secret is knowing when to use 4x4 Low vs 4x4 High or even 2wd. The selection of courses to drive is about the same as other racing games but the first thing to do is head off the marked path and see what secrets you can find. I hope we see more free-roaming games like this!

I recently rented this game, and even though I am not the ultimate 4x4 fan I really enjoyed this game. The graphics are great and you can choose from a number of vehicles that really exist. Bottom line this game is great, and even if you don't like 4x4 that much it is a great racing game. It has good courses even though most people say they are normal courses. You can still get hit by trains, cars, and 18-wheelers. Also there are plenty of modifications you can make to all vehicles. So all you people that can't decide whether to buy it I recommend it and it is an overall great game. So go to the store and buy it you will get your money's worth.

I got a PS2 recently and rented and then purchased this game.

I'm pretty picky about my driving games but this one is first class. I would put it on the same level as the Gran Turismo series.

The game is less complicated than GT2 but I think that's a good thing. There are no licenses to mess with. You just race, win, build your truck, race, win, build your truck. I also liked the level of customization and the realism of the customizations.

I really only purchased the game for my love of bulky SUVs and 4x4 Trucks. I read a few previews of the game that were not very good. After bringing the game home today, I hurried to my room and played it. To my surprise, the game was very pleasing. The graphics were very nice and very smooth. The replay after the race has stunning graphics, during the game there is nothing that blows you away but they are fine anyways. The biggest strength of the game is its career mode where you enter contests, championships and different cups to win money. You need to win money in order to beef up your truck. After your truck is beefed up with nice tires etc... you can buy from a huge list of REAL suv trucks and 4x4 trucks. Basically, the game has everyone you can think of. Only a few are left out. I haven't tried the two player mode or time trial yet, mainly doing a nice career. I found that once you get behind in a race, it is really really hard to even catch back up. I slightly fixed this problem by putting the opponent difficulty on easy. I consider this game the grand turismo of truck racing simply because of all the licensed vehicles it has. If you enjoy driving the bulky trucks rather then the slick fast cars, then I recommend this game. Otherwise, the gameplay may be a little too slow for those of you into the fast racing cars.

I had my doubts, but I have gotten addicted to this game! It's alot of fun. 4x4 Evo is the 4x4 Gran Turismo. It has much replay value - 15 courses, 32 race series with avg. 4 races, vehicles from the major manufacturers and various parts to purchase and tweak your vehicle for better performance. This is a game for your library and a good practice for GT3.

It has it's ups and downs, just like most games. The graphics and premise of the game are great, but sometimes the physics engine will frustrate. Especially on the snowy courses. While your vehicle is stuck spinning its wheels at the starting line, the computer competition takes off like they're on concrete. The braking is horrible. You can lock em up on concrete, and it seems to have very little slowing effect. 3 Months ago I would have strongly recommended the game due to GT3's continuously pushed-back release date, but with 2 weeks to go, save your money and buy GT3. It is fun being able to customize not only your engine, but the vehicle's appearance too. Not a bad game, but it has some flaws.

Hearing the engines of SUV's and trucks reving up "locked" in 4x4 gets alot of people's blood pumping. This game is exciting for those who love games that involve racing off road. From snow, sleet, ice, rain, mud, dirt, and rocks, 4x4 Evolution has it all. Controls are very responsive and not-quirky. The sound is stunning and very realistic. "Turning" and off road driving is just like you were doing it yourself. Only bad thing is, this game seems to base it's tracks on one purpose, there is nothing really "new" in the tracks, just your usual turns and objects. This game impresses me in various aspects, and is a must have for racing enthusiasts. This game is also available for the PC.

This game is alot of fun and very addicting. the graphics are amazing and you don't have to be a metal head truck owner to appreciate it. The free range of driving off the track is a big plus. It has all fun of upgrading similar to armored core except it is based just a little more on reality. I suggest setting your game to an easier level though. It can be very frustrating to race an entire race prefectly up until the end and then make one tiny mistake and go from first to last in a split second. My poor controler shall rest in peace and i will make sure to heed the warning at the beginning of the game and take breaks often. this was my first controler lost to me due to aggrevation at simple game, but it is testament to how engrossing this game can be.

... When you race, you can't go fast at all! Controlling is impossible to do. I never won a race! The computer players are much to hard. The only time I ALMOST won was against my dad in MULTI-PLAYER MODE. you can't stay on the road! With no control you end up in the middle of nowhere!

Speed: 0
Control: 0
Go off track: 5
Stay on track: 1

PLUS+ My friends also hate it.
But maybe I'm not just a 4 x 4 guy. Because they got all different selections of diffrent companies and colors. Last, you can even make your mom or dad's truck drive.

well, I don't like it. But kids over 13 will.

I rented this game from BlockBuster to see if I would enjoy it enough to buy it, and IMO this game was not even worth the $6 rental fee. Although the graphics are certainly beautiful, a combination of unrealistic physics, quirky handling and boring tracks ruins the game. Even worse, the game crashed with the following message before I had even logged 1/2hr of play time:

Invalid Vehicle Number! File: Truck.o line 2027

Save your money and buy Smuggler's Run or ATV Offroad Fury.

This guy sent me an email a few days after I had already payed for this game and told me it was damaged. He said he was going to refund my money and send me the game anyway. I never saw the money or my game. 0 stars for it.

Is this game in slow motion or what? The cars "speed" along at a snails pace. Free Roam? I didn't see any free roam. I bought this game because it was supposed to have more free roam areas than Test drive wide open off road which only has three. Test Drive rocks, the trucks are fast, the gameplay is fast, I hope they come out with a second one with more free roam areas. If you like unrealistic slow moving vehicles buy 4x4 Evo, if you want fast mud pounding terrain trouncing fun, buy Test Drive Offroad Wide Open! Too bad there is no option for 0 Stars
