As a huge fan of all things zoo and animal, I took a gamble on this game in hopes of reigniting my childhood passions. I was pleasantly surprised to find Zoo Tycoon 2: Extinct Animals was actually a lot of fun for a kids game. At my age it isn't really a challenge at all, but the fanciful nature of the gaming system and antics of the animals are fun to watch and unfold as you build your dream zoo. I was impressed to notice that both male and female animals have different looks, and some of the dinosaurs even have feathers. Someone was doing their research at Microsoft. I'd definitely recommend this game for younger kids who want to learn more about extinct animals and anyone else who just loves animals.

I love all the zoo tycoon games. I have been playing from the beginning, so this expansion pack only makes me love the game even more!!

* The game play is fun, because not only do you get the animal aspect from the original game but you have little puzzles to put together once you find all the bones from your dig. You also have the Extinct Animal Creation Minigame, which is really fun and it produces animals at no cost!

* Its also nice because you can search for fossils in first-person mode using your fossil-finding sonar gun, and then get down and dirty digging them up or you can hire a paleontologist to head the search for you!

* The extinct animal aspect is really fun because you can get dinosaurs and other cool animals. This expansion pack really encorporate more than just new animals and new parks. It has so much more, like the Dino Capture team and disease curing game.

I would highly recommend this game to anyone who likes the Zoo Tycoon series, or who wants to start playing them now!

This is a fun, engaging game for kids. I highly recommend any of the Zoo Tycoon expansion packs. There is a Zoo Tycoon "patch" that should be installed on your computer before loading Zoo Tycoon. You can get it here [...] If anyone has trouble loading or using a game, I suggest doing a search for your game on the Microsoft Support site, or go to the the Microsoft social forum (the Gaming thread) for answers to your questions. You can find updates for your games to download to make them run at their best. There are other forums available if you do an internet search for them. We had a problem installing Marine Mania. It would UNinstall all of the other expansion packs. The forums answered our cry for help, and provided the patch we needed to make it run successfully.

My son loves this game! I am not a fan of my children sitting in front of a TV or computer screen being mesmorized by video games, so I was skeptical when my son received the original Zoo Tycoon Complete Collection several years ago. This series won me over, however, when I realized that he does not just have things jumping out at him, rather, he has to use his brain and imagination to manipulate his way through this game. The Extinct Animals is a great progression of this series. The animation, options, and different tasks that can be done are great, and my son loves the diversity and number of animals that he can choose from.

I bought this last expansion pack so my daughter would stop bugging me ;). I love zoo tycoon and wasn't really wanting the whole Jurassic Park idea but thought I would try it. Okay now I am hooked and we have all the expansion packs AND the Ultimate because a Grandma kinda got it goofed up but it's okay we have 4 computers and now both my daughter and I can play at the same time. Watch out for addiction! I remember my first real PC game addiction and it was Sim City on Windows 3.1!! This is worth it and if you need more than 2 or more expansion get the Ultimate Zoo Tycoon. The Marine Mania is a MUST HAVE.

My kids (4 & 6) absolutely adore this game. It is a little difficult for them so they just do the free play which is perfect for them. They loved the original but the dinosaurs are a lot of fun and they enjoy being able to put together fossils. I got this for them as a gift and was surprised how much they enjoy it.

This expansion pack has puzzles to solve and indirectly teaches about bones, reproduction for the species to survive, convey size and strength relative to the other animals, and DNA. My 7 yr. old had the other expansion packs (Marine, Endangered, African) and was waiting to for this one. It did not dissappoint!! His been playing on it for three days straight after his surgery for ear tubes and adenoids. It was a great motivator to get him to perk up and come home to play it.

I pre-ordered it several weeks ago, but a week after the release, it is still not available from Amazon. I canceled the order and got it locally, for same price. Great game. My son loves it.

So far I have all the zoo tycoon games. from the endangered species and the marine mania and safari adventure and the ultimate collection. but over all of them I like this one the most. If you are spying around the house then you will never see me playing another game then this one. But if you like you can get animals free ether at the extinct reseach lab or the freestyle game. but it's up to you! ether if you want to spend money or if you just want to keep the money! so get it don't miss it!

Well my son is passionate about his zoo building with every version and expansion pack out so far. He has spent so much time completing all the scenerios and building custom zoos. He definitely has experience with it. He was anticipating this release since the rumors of it started. I will have him document what the details are that he likes/dislikes but I wanted to say to those looking to buy it that he loves it. He keeps shouting out, "OH COOOOOOL!" "YES!!!" There has been expansion packs that he has NOT had this much excitement about. I asked him what he thought of it overall to write this review and he screamed out, "TWO THUMBS UP!!!" FYI :)

My 8 year old daughter LOVES the Zoo Tycoon games and this one did not disappoint her either. The day we got it in the mail I had to pry her off of the computer to eat dinner. She loves these games and they are not only fun but educational. A+!
