Tropix contains a fun variety of games, including word search, matching skill games, bowling, and (my favorite) parasailing monkeys. The tropical setting is a nice escape from grey winter days, too! You start out with several games and "earn" more games with sand dollar points, with which you buy islands and furnish them. When the island is complete, you get a new game to play(The parasailing monkey game is won by completing Mystic Beach, by the way). The graphics may look like this is more of a children's game collection but it provides fun challenges for adults as well. Most games are quick to play and the rules are simple. It's fun to furnish each island and watch the monkey play with some of the things you put there, such as hats and beach balls.
I downloaded a trial version of Tropix, and fell in love with the game. My daughter and son-in-law enjoy it, as do my grandchildren(ages 4 and 7). So I got them a copy for christmas, which they all argue over who is to play next. Then I ordered this copy for myself, and when the grandkids stay with me, we argue over who's turn it is to play. Great for the whole family, and we all have different favorite games. The variety and cuteness is the appeal for us.
I got this for my five year old. He loves it! I love how it has so much for him to do. Great Purchase!
I bought this game as I like to have games where I can play for 1/2 hour or so at a time and get back into them easily. But....I found myself playing for hours so I could accumulate enough points to buy lots of goodies and move to the new islands. There is a good mxi of mini-games to play and the difficulties increase the more times you play. It's clever that you can click on the items you "bought" and the monkey will go use them. You will get plenty of play time for your money. Can hardly wait for Tropix 2 to be available on Amazon.
I don't like to put a lot of games on the computer I use for work at home, but this is one that I have downloaded. There are eleven games to choose from that include puzzle games (Puffer Popper was my favorite followed by Trijong and Cascade), Solitaire, a letter game and some games with the monkeys like para sailing. You win points and I must admit I played so much I maxed out!
Great brainless fun that requires some skill, but not as much as some of the much more complicated games.
I love the beautiful graphics. The variety of games keeps you interested for hours. Buying islands and naming them is fun too. You can even use it as a screen saver! Love everything about it.
We really enjoy this game. It's especially great for 5-9 year-olds. We're VERY happy with this purchase.
Tropix has a beach/monkey theme that is cute, but not overly, with great beach nature sounds & good in-game sounds. You start on an island & about 4? games. By doing well, you earn sand dollars/money to buy cute items to keep your monkey on the island happy, and once filled, you can open up a new island & more mini games until you finish all 5 islands & open up all 11 games.
The islands & buying items for the monkey serve no purpose other then making you play to earn more sand dollars/money, although there are fun items for your monkey like eating, fireworks, balls, snorkle, etc. that are cute to watch him interact with for a few seconds. You can earn $20-5,000 & maybe more each time you take a photo of your monkey playing on the island to speed up the unlocking of games/islands.
This is loaded on your PC & doesn't need the CD to run & it includes a cute screen saver of your monkey on an island, although in some spots like the title, it doesn't change which doesn't make it a fully effective screen saver to prevent burn-in/out.
This is redone arcade & card games w/island theme as well as each level is it's own game. Such as in Beach bash, you ALWAYS start with 3 balls, it's much slower then breakout/archanoid (thankful for faster powerup dropped by bird) & though has moving obstacles at some levels, this game doesn't want you to nail bite or freak out as you play like regular arcade games, but be more relaxed. The default in all games is to start at the level that last wasn't completed, you never start from scratch.
Games:
Each game has several to MANY levels as well as some have difficulty levels to keep up playability in long term. All games are controlled by mouse movement, not keyboard. All levels are chosen by destination dots & level bosses with Xs circling 1-3 islands.
Sandoku - sudoku, 4 levels, 4 types of difficulty
Cascade - Bejeweled w/fruit w/unusual shape boards to make it harder, as well as ice can form on idle squares if you don't keep matching which makes it even more difficult. I'm stuck on level 13 & seems like there are at least 34 levels.
Water Words - letters are in bubbles & you try to form words of at least 4 letters by clicking on letters that are next to each other.
Parasail - you control a monkey who side scroller using the mouse to go up/down faster/slower to collect all the bananas & avoid wooden barrels in the water, rocks, spiders who come down, parana who jump up, crocodiles, birds, blowfish? in the air & etc. You can occasionally pick up coconuts to knock them off, but you don't get many, this is mainly avoidance game. There are 52 levels, the bosses are large blowfish that shoot bubbles that can harm you & rocks & are very easy to beat. Very cute & relaxing game & good for reflexes & watching out, nothing to think about much, but fun. Good for relaxing, very young kids or easy way to get dollars to unlock more games. Once you unlock all the levels in order, you can replay them at any level anytime.
Jungle Jump - like Parasail, only you have to jump often & use vines to get across. More like a platformer & side scrolls, it has more obstacles like plants above who shoot down things, and being faster with jumping, etc. Sill pretty easy & relaxing. Has 72 levels & like the first, you can choose a level once all are completed in order once.
Trijong - Mahjong using triangles so it's a bit different, but still overall the same. I'm stuck on level 37 out of more then 65+ & you can replay any level that was completed.
Shell Game - yeah, find the ball under 3 shells as they move VERY fast to gamble for more sand dollars. You are forced to bet, $5 1st time, $10 2nd time .... $130 6th time, $180 7th time & at $330 the 10thtime it gets way too fast. If you miss, you re-bet the same amount.
Coco-Bowl - Bowling on a narrow dock w/coconuts to glass bottles using the mouse left/right, then have to push fwd w/mouse which means you can miss if your fingers don't go how you want, very fun. There are 5 types: Beach bowl is regular, Sunset View has the dock constantly waving back/forth so you have to time it right, Midnight Lane is at night as well as the glass bottles amount & configuration change each of the 10 times giving it more a puzzle feel. Windy Beach adds... wind, though not a # amount, but difficult enough that you have to be very good w/pushing the ball accurately. Crab's Challenge has a little crab moving back systematically until the ball gets close & will try to knock it off, he also changes position each time.
Beach Bash - Arkanoid/Breakout w/beach theme. Has static & moving obstacles, collecting of droped fruit, bird dropping multi, very large, faster, slower & fire powerups to help often. On level 49 out of 78+. Instead of bar, have crab throwing coconut.
Puffer Popper - Zumba like game w/beach theme, starfish & coconuts to break up some bubbles, bit harder to aim due to the curving course. I'm stuck on level 26 of 60+ levels.
Solitaire - Has 3 levels - Tde pool: play ever card, Flower: you play every 2 cards & Jungle: every 3 cards. you can go through the deck an infinite amount of times & no other settings, no time limit.
Great amount of arcade games & levels for good price w/good level progressions to get all levels of player skill.

MY 5 YR. OLD GRANDSON HAS A BLAST WITH ALL THE GAMES INVOLVED, LOVES THE SHOPPING, AND I AM EVEN HOOKED ON SOME OF THE GAMES NOW! THIS WAS A GREAT BARGAIN FOR ALL THE HOURS OF ENJOYMENT WE HAVE RECEIVED.
This game is really a lot of fun. My 8-year old granddaughters have loved the games and furnishing their islands. The graphics are very good, and the little monkey is really cute and entertaining. The flaw is that there are not enough islands. Within a couple of days, they had purchased all the islands and all the furnishings. They continue to play the imaginative games, but keep accumulating $$ because there is nothing more to purchase. This product is worth buying for the screen saver alone. With additional islands or larger islands, it would definitely be about perfect!
