There are not three games at all. There are only two games which are completely distinct, and one of which has an "add-on".
The original game has been published under several different "edition" titles here (USA) and Europe, all of which combined the add-on "Paradise Island". It is practically impossible to obtain the original disk without the add-on. If this "EDITION" includes them separately, it will contain an amazing number of CDs. Obviously I am not going to buy it to find out.
To the games themselves: The inital release (as patched) is a fantastic and unique game of building, politics and economics based upon a population of people who have virtual minds of their own (distinct from the player's, which might work better if it were virtual). It included tourism as one of several economic exploitations of the island. The "add-on" (Paradise Island) did add some additional tourist features; BUT it also added a number of militaristic features - which this hype skips over. The issue is that "Paradise Island" is not a game which can be played separately -- IT IS AN ADD-ON!
Tropico 2 - Pirate Cove is separate. It is not loaded together with the Original and its Add-On.
So if you buy this product, be forewarned that you will NOT be getting three games. You will get ONE game already consolidated with an "add-on" ; plus one additional game which has proven to have a very limited audience. The secondary "Pirate" game has nothing to do with the publisher's soon to be released edition in the trilogy.
I've been playing Tropico consistently for years, it's a great game, different from most city builders and strategy games. I'll put it away for six months and then get that itch again and play for awhile. Tropico 2 is fun too adding in the whole RPG aspect of building up your pirates and ships and sending them off on missions, but I like the original better. Recently I misplaced my some of my old cd's so I found this pack online for [...] and I jumped on it. I can't think of a better deal, you get Tropico and all the updates and Tropico 2 for nothing. Anyway, if you don't know or haven't heard of these games they are classics that have stood the test of time for me, and I recommend them to any strategy/builder fan.
I can't wait for Tropico 3 to come out next month!
These games are wildly addictive and if you get it for close to the same great price I did (under $10), then it is a steal. Simple to learn, easy to play, difficult to master. Years of fun.
not as graphically advanced as tropico 3, but these old "god" games are fun for me and are all-time classics.
I got this game in the mail, it was on time perfect shipping. The only problem was is that when i tried to play it, an error came up saying the program could not be played. It is a great game ,i love tropico games, but if i paid $15 ,including the cost of shipping i expect to play a working game.
This game is great for killing time. After playing for a few weeks, it can get old, but after a short break, it is fun again.
I enjoyed a demo of Tropico that came with a simulation I play...when I saw this item on Amazon containing more content I was very happy to give it a try...
I enjoy the original Tropico...but the Paradise Island enhancement and Tropico 2 Pirate game didn't enhance my play experience...overall this game gets old quickly...
