Only problem is my sound card doesn't work with Vista other wise awesome head set

Great fit and build quality. Be aware that these headphones are specifically designed to be short on bass, aka in an FPS game "quiet footstep" noises are more key to your survival than "rocket boom" noises.

I got the Steelseries Siberia headphones for my wife, which are better for use for mixed use, but don't have the retractable mic like these do.

Unless you are a music freak who can only use Bose products, this is the only headset you will need.

I play a lot of FPS games, and these phones are the bomb! That is to say, they are great! In fact, I just ordered my second pair today since my son and I fight over them all the time. Now, we have one for each computer, and we can play our games in the same room with these monster cups on our ears and fire away! It is a great value, although I paid almost $10 less on Amazon about 6 months ago, so the price is actually going UP on these puppies....get them now, you won't be disappointed.

Let me start by saying I have a big Head - Fitted caps give me a headache after 5 minutes IF I can find one that fits my head. That being said these headphones fit me great and seem to be very good sound quality. The microphone seems to perform well (I've had no complaints from my cohorts)

Overall a great headset, especially for the price.

I bought this headset months ago because my previous one broke down and stopped working. All I can say is that this headset is AMAZING and it's common knowledge among the gaming community that this is a top notch and affordable product. I really recommend getting this if you're looking for a new headset, if you don't, it's your loss. The ear muffs fit over your ear and put no strain on them whatsoever, you could wear it for an entire day and completely forgot that they're even on your head. The headset can be disassembled very easily making transportation with it hassle free. The wire is also like a shoe lace, making it extremely durable for those of us out there that accidentally run the wire over with our computer chair constantly. I give the comfort a 5/5 and the sound quality a 5/5.

As I do a lot of online gaming, I finally decided that I needed to replace my $20 headphones/mic. I read a lot of reviews in the computer mag I subscribe to - and this was very highly rated. So I took the plunge. Despite their size, they are very comfortable. I've been online gaming for hours and not had any discomfort from them; in fact, they are comfortable enough that when switching over to a non-online game where I don't need a mic, I've left them on since I never though to take them off. They break down into three pieces so nothing gets damaged if you have to pack them up and travel. And one of the best features is that the braided cord comes in two sections - one 3' long, and one about 6' long. My old headphones/mic, I was constantly getting the cord tangled around the chair arm or something else - as my computer sits on the top of the desk, I don't need a long cord. This setup allows me to just plug in the 3' cord, and I don't need the extension at all. But if your gaming rig is on the floor or even across the desk or whatever, you've got a long enough cord, with the extension, to easily reach it. Sound quality is excellent, and geared to FPS games -- they do not recommend using these for listening to dvds/music, so be warned for that.

Complaints: There is no documentation. Though I quickly figured out that the little thumb-dial is a local volumne control, I still haven't figure out what the small off/low/high switch does... I imagine it's a boost for some range of sound, but haven't been able to determine what yet. The mic is advertised as retractable, and it is... but it doesn't retract smoothly, and you'll find it easier to do so with the headphones off - not that you'll be doing a lot of this anyways.

I bought these to replace a broken pair of 4H's.

These have the same sound as those, so if you're looking for something cheaper, get those. I bought these because I needed to take these apart because I move them around a lot, and I needed the braided high-quality cables because they're abused by other people.

As some other people on the internet have noted, this headset is geared towards gamers with its custom high-treble soundscape (for bullets and footsteps, which are very noticeable), so if you're more than an occasional music listener, these might not be too good for you. I hardly ever listen to music, so this wasn't a problem for me.

If you're looking for fine sound quality that you can keep on your head for hours without pain, these are the headphones for you. They fit comfortably over the ear, and leave room for your ear within the cups. Top-notch, especially for gamers.

If you are looking for a gaming headset that has a great microphone and is extremely comfortable for long sessions this one is for you. Solid construction and build quality. I would not suggest looking at anything other than this...

Headset is good, but gotta be careful not to mess too much with the mic and headset cords. Pulling those out of the headset or snagging frequently will cause errors later. I recommend this headset to fps gamers, it makes it easy to hear far away but still no when someones on your tail.

Well, I had never used headphones before because I have a 7.1 speaker system (which I love). I have a small daughter now, so I can't have loud noises late at night so I decided I wanted to have a headphone option to the speaker system. I read nice reviews about these headphones (including that it had nice surround capabilities). I have had them for a while now and I must say that although the headphone seems to be of great quality, the surround is just not the same as with a speaker system...

I guess I could try one of these 5.1 headphones with 3 cables to connect to the soundcard or, maybe, no headphones will deliver the same experience as a real 7.1 system.

Anyway, the headset is real good and I recommend it for gaming but not for music listening.

I always use headphones when at my home computer (which is a lot). When I'm gaming I also use a cheap mic. I was looking for a solution to avoid two cords dangling from my head and getting tangled up, while still getting good performance from both devices. While the 5Hv2 solved my problems with cords, the sound just wasn't quite good enough.

The mid-tones are well defined and clear, the highs are okay if perhaps not sharp enough, but the bass tones were a real let down. I have no taste at all for cans with sloppy overdriven bass, but these just sounded flat.

I didn't keep these long enough to really speak to comfort but they seemed alright. There were just little tight and the padding a bit harder and narrower than I'm used to, but I was able to wear them for a couple hours without discomfort.

These headphone should be adequate for most people gaming with them, or those who only use their headphones when they can't use regular speakers. The sound is better than some other integrated headset/mics I've used, and I really like how the retractable mic works.

I'm no audiophile, but sound quality dose matter to me, and I use my headphone a lot. If your like me, especially if you ever listen to music at all, you'll want something better, even if your still being strangled by all the cords hanging from your head.

I needed a good headset for gaming and music, because I always woke my parents up with my music. I looked towards these, because they seemed pretty decent in price, plus I was told it's a pretty good headset. So I bought them, and when I received them I put them on, and I felt this immense pressure along the sides of my head above my ears from the headset. I didn't think TOO much of it, thinking they would maybe adjust. No more than maybe a half an hour later, I needed to take them off because they were giving me a headache! I would've loosened the headset more, but they probably would've slipped off of my head, judging by how they were were already slipping when I had put them on with minor adjustments. Not only that, but the sound quality wasn't the greatest either. The bass wasn't strong at all, and it was mostly sharp tones. I did like their idea of the pull out microphone, though. Other than that, terrible headset for me. I took them back and I bought the Sennheiser PC350s. It's a step up in price, but they seem pretty good so far.

I did not buy these from Amazon but I have been through 3 sets of these. When they work, they are good, but no matter how good you take care of these headphones they never last longer than 5 months. I went through three of these and they all crapped out just under six months no matter how well you take care of them. The wiring is poorly done. One of the speakers, left or right will eventually cut out on you and it's ridiculous. Don't buy these!
