the kids always played these games and i wondered why. i found out now this is great and fun to boot.now they have to wait for the computer .
I am a huge fan of creepy and paranormal stuff so I decided to give this game a go, having just completed the first one. I must say, this game is a little bit more challenging than the previous installment. Some of the hidden objects are extremely difficult to find and some of them blend in too well with the background. You can barely tell what some of them are supposed to be, I found myself squinting and getting up close and personal with my computer screen half the time. The dark, chilling atmosphere is still there, and I like the spooky voices, but I don't like the graphics at all. I think they should've stuck with the setup of the first game, timer and all. At least some of the objects were distinguishable. Return to Ravenhearst looks more like a Saturday morning, Disney cartoon. But the door puzzles are harder, not to mention weirder. The hint option is not something I'm overly fond of. I don't like how you can ask it only one time and have to wait like 30 seconds for it to reload before you can get another.
Another thing I don't like about this game is that it automatically thinks everyone should know what a French curve is. I had no idea what the hell that meant until I finally looked it up. They're tricky like that, inserting words in there that you don't know the meaning of. How are you supposed to find it if you don't know what you're looking for??
Good game to play on a rainy day if you enjoy these types, but I wouldn't suggest this as a way to relax. Some of the clues can be very frustrating to search for, therefore, this game can easily cause your stress level to go through the roof!
But, it's not like the others. The focus is much less on hidden objects as it is on a series of puzzles to unlock more territory to search. Much more challenging than the rest in the series. Lasted longer too. I'm a logic lover, and this really was the best logic game I've played. But, a warning, if you really just love looking for hidden objects and the puzzles in between annoy you, this isn't the game for you.
This is not such an easy game like the other Mystery Case files. I enjoyed it so far, though I did have to use "cheat codes" to get thru the front door!!! It's quite interesting going thru different rooms, finding objects, solving the puzzles. Not like many other Hidden Object games. Well worth it to buy this game, believe me, you will not get bored. This game is easier than Hidden Expedition Amazon that one I am stuck on and haven't finished. Another good game to get is PI lottery ticket if you just want to find hidden objects without taxing your brain. Another simplier game is Hidden expedition: Everest. All in all I would say this game is more difficult than the last games listed.
Wonderful to play: just the right amount of difficult but not so hard
that it plays too slowly. Creepy in a good way.
This is a hit! I would recommend that you play the first game before jumping into this one, that will allow you to become familiar with the types of puzzles you will encounter, and the first one is easier.
The creators of this game really took the game and expanded it, and it surpasses the first one in graphcis, puzzles, story line and challenges.
You will find the story line in the second game interesting, if very sad, and the challenges that you must meet to continue are difficult and fun. Frequently you have to go to various rooms, solve puzzles and then take your findings on to another place to make use of them, solving yet another puzzle. Some of the challenges are not apparent and require problem solving skills, really adds to the enjoyment to have a partner to brainstorm. My husband and I really enjoyed playing these games, during those long winter evenings in Ohio!
I can hardly wait for number three!
This game is wonderful!! I'm not a major fan of computer games, but I read a review of this game somewhere and thought I'd give it a try. I was so impressed! The graphics are wonderful and the puzzles so challenging. I was addicted....I played it until all hours of the night. I even got one of my friends hooked on it. I have to admit, I did look online for some help with what to do, but I still had an awesome time playing it. I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves hunting for clues and doing search puzzles.
BFG have outdone themselves with this game. The graphics, music, puzzles-all combined to make this one of the best hidden object games I've ever played. I like all the MCF games. Madame Fate is my favorite. The Hidden Expedition: Amazon is a favorite also. Granted, these are not games that you just look for hidden objects. There are numerous puzzles throughout the game that you solve also. I am getting very bored with playing the usual HO games. I find that some of them are a waste of money. Now, I look for a demo of a particuliar game and play it before I purchase it.
Hopefully, that insures I won't be wasting my time and money. BFG studios have really succeeded in releasing some awesome games. MCF Return To Ravenhearst is one of them!!
I have to agree with the other reviewers - this is a great game. I appreciate that it is very challenging and took several hours to complete. Some of the puzzles were so difficult, in fact, that I had to seek out the help of online forums to successfully complete the puzzle. I actually enjoy tackling puzzles that are that difficult, but it might annoy players who are looking for a more mindless game.
The graphics are beautiful and the music moody. My only complaint on that score is that the actors' lines and the video didn't sync, which was distracting.
Overall, I'm looking forward to the next game in the series!
I have all the mystery case file games but this one took it a leap above the rest it has it all hidden objects puzzles anventure I love it and can play it again and again and it's always as much fun as the first time I played it this one you must have it's the best game of the year in my book don't miss out on this one it's a must have for sure.
This is the best seek-and-find type game I've ever played, but what really makes it shine among the genre is that it's not just seek-and-find. The graphics and puzzles were outstanding. Just be aware that the puzzles aren't easy. This is not a game that can be finished quickly, but I enjoyed it so much that I'm eagerly awaiting the sequel and I'll buy it as soon as it comes out. To sum up: very high quality graphics, great storyline and it really worked the brain. If you have children it's a fun family activity that will keep everyone engaged for days. Congratulations to the manufacturer on a stellar product.
I've been hooked on Mystery Case Files games for a long time. Each one gets better with more challenging puzzles. This one is no exception. Some of the puzzles in this game take a while to figure out. I love a challenge!
I bought this game about a year ago and forgot I had it (it got buried on my desk at home). Stumbled across it a month ago and I have been entranced with it every since!! It has so many surprises and secret passages. Really good puzzles and the story line is really good. I'm now at the end and I think I only have one last puzzle to solve, but kind of disappointed that I'm almost done with it. Never got bored with it one time. I'm on Amazon now because I'm looking for another game like this one.
I play a lot of adventure games, where you have to solve puzzles to proceed.(Examples: "A Vampyre Story", Sherlock Homes series, Agatha Christie series, Nancy Drew series, Still Life series, Syberia, etc) I love the brainwork, and often guesswork, involved. I just recently "discovered" hidden object games and have played several as a break from having to think too hard!
"Return to Ravenhearst" is an incredibly fun combination of the two game types, with the added bonus that there is very little of the character conversations that can go on interminably in an adventure game.
I had a total blast playing this game. I've often told people of PC games I've played with pleasure, but this is a game that I really recommend.
I admit, I loved this game. However, it is deceptively advertised as a hidden object game, and that's only half of the story. The other half is the first-person point-and-click adventure style (Sam and Max, Nancy Drew), which is my other favorite type of game. So for me, this game had it all - areas of hidden objects you had to access by using items you find and solving puzzles. If you're a fan of both of these types of games, this is the ultimate game for you.
The storyline flows nicely, and it makes a fair amount of sense. A lot of these style games have a rather flimsy premise holding together the hidden object scenes, but this one had a true background story. The puzzles are challenging, but (with the exception of that sliding peacock puzzle!) not overly difficult. And you have the option of skipping them, which is always nice. There's a fair amount of running around involved, though it's not too many clicks from once location to the next, so that's not too bad.
There's a teaser at the end for the next installment, and I can't wait!
