Excelente, genial para los juegos de FPS, sus 2 botones del lado izquierdo son geniales, completamente programable x software...
very very cool mouse and excelente for games like FPS, the 2 botoms from the left side are very important, for crunch and jump for example... And the software is very nice, select the game in the list and you can make combination key's and select in the mouse botons...
I have very big hands so I was happy to read other reviews on how huge this mouse is. It fits like a glove for me and couldnt get any better. Perfect button placement and very high quality design. I thought this was made of cheap plastic but it is very well designed and crafted. My only problem Ihave to get used to is how sensitive the buttons are. That i my fault though for using a cheap dell mouse that came with the computer. If you have at least medium sized hands this will be great for you.
So what is a gaming mouse and why do you need one? Well a gaming mouse is optical so it is more precise and accurate than a standard mouse. This is important when you are playing first person shooters (or games like that) where every move counts. They usually have a better button arrangement and programmable buttons so you can access in-game features quickly. They are also ergonomically designed so they are more comfortable so you can spend hours playing your favorite computer game without straining yourself. All this may not seem that important (after all it is just a mouse) but to a gamer it is all about split-second decisions so a high standard mouse is a must.
The Sidewinder name has been linked to gaming for a long time and has always been known for quality and high standard. The Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro Joystick is probably the most popular joystick ever made and the Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 Joystick is often acknowledged as the best one. The name also stands for reliability so it was interesting see how the Sidewinder X5 Mouse would shape up.
I hooked up the mouse to a Windows XP Computer via the USB socket. I didn't use the software, it installed automatically. When I decided to install the software to get extra features, I realized the Sidewinder X5 was not in the list but the Laser Mouse 6000 seemed to match. It didn't matter; the features are all still there so it just took getting use to it. This is pretty easy; the mouse acts as standard mouse for most things. It is just when you play a computer game that it comes into its own. I had previously struggled to play BioShock (PC Game of the Year 2007) with a standard mouse so here was the test.
On playing Bioshock, the mouse was a joy to use. I set it up so I could have certain features ready at the press of a button so it made the game easier to play. It was also very quick and responsive to every move I made and very accurate when I was shooting or making any quick moves. It blows a standard mouse away (even an optical one). The reason why is because this mouse uses an infra-red laser instead of a LED so the resolution of the image taken by the mouse is better and it also tracks a lot more efficiently (20 times better than a standard LED optical mouse).
The built quality of the mouse also looks pretty sound, it has a smooth design and it feels comfortable.
Overall I would recommend this - another option is the original Microsoft SideWinder Gaming Mouse but both are comparable in speed. Microsoft claims the Sidewinder X5 is built to last and it should be good for around 10 million clicks!
Overall I really like this mouse for gaming and normal use.
Pros:
Great low price
Comfort for long use
Great button placement
Ample resolution
Cons:
Light weight
Summary:
This must be a best buy as far as gaming mouse go. But it is very light (too light). I find it to be very comfortable in use, because of it's size (wide as well as tall in the bottom). The width and height allow for a good rest of my palm while using the mouse and still make it easy to grip and move quickly when I need to. I much prefer the side button placement (top and bottom) as opposed to the side by side on my old Razar mouse. Setup was just "plug in" on my macbook pro.
Great mouse ,the X5 has perfect button placement for my hand ,and it feels more comfortable them my
old mouse. which was too small, and gave me a hand cramp when i used it for long periods of time.
The mouse has worked flawlessly since i bought it . It's weight is about the same as anyother mouse i,v
used, and in games it's more precise, When it comes to aiming and movement.
I defendly Recommend to anyone looking for a gaming mouse, that is affordable and has a longlife span.
Also, the two mouse buttons on the side of the mouse are alittle bit foward. So you don't accidentally
push them ,while moving the mouse around.
Micro$oft's SideWinder X5 Mouse reviewed here is a stripped-down version of Micro$oft SideWinder Gaming mouse which was released sometime last year.
You may ask why a new version? When the award winning SideWinder gaming mouse also sells for the same price or sometimes even lower?
Micro$oft has done some small refinements to the original SideWinder Mouse to cut the costs down and attempted to make it more lightweight ending up with SideWinder X5 which feels more plastic overall.
PROS
[+] Moisture resistant coating
[+] Still a good mouse for Gaming with customizable DPI ranging from 200- 2000 DPI
[+] New refined smoothened sculpted design with Rubber Scroll Wheel & detent clicking action
[+] Main buttons are rated for 10 million clicks for shooting those enemies down in a game or hit that send button sending as many emails as possible.
[+] L.A.S.E.R tracking engine for accurate results.
CONS
[-] Lightweight Plastic cheap feeling
[-] Designed for Right handed gamers only!
[-] Missing most of the goodies found in the original SideWinder!
I consider this mouse worth buying if it becomes cheaper than the original SideWinder from Micro$oft. Do not get me wrong, It is still a good gaming mouse but is slightly more expensive. Price on X5 will surely come down soon.
Given the options, I would still buy the original Sidewinder Microsoft SideWinder Gaming Mouse from Amazon as it is better than X5
Happy Gaming!
I had a basic optical mouse, and when gaming it got the "spins". I picked this mouse up cheap, and I am glad I didn't waste money on something overpriced, this is just what I wanted.
The X5 is great! It fits my hand perfectly. I like color and shape. I am a gamer, and It performs great when I play games. However, sometimes it would recognize a single left click as a double click, especially when I don't click it hard enough. Generally, it is great mouse, I like it.
I needed a mouse for my Macbook Pro and did a bit of research for a durable, large gaming mouse and was instantly drawn to the Sidewinder line. As cool as the features of the X8 were, I wasn't willing to shell out $60+ for a mouse. I found the X5 for $25 with free economy shipping on Amazon and ordered it instantly.
I find the X5 very comfortable. It's solid and seems like it will hold up longer than the Razor Diamondback that preceded it. The scroll wheel is nice and wide. The scroll is somewhat rigid. Although I would have preferred a smooth scroll like the Logitech's, the "knotchy" scroll gets it done. Accidentally pressing the Mouse 3 button (pushing the wheel in) will not happen with this mouse. I have a dual boot machine with Mac OS X/ Windows 7 and it works great on both sides. The packaged software would not install on Window 7, but after further research (AND compatibility mode) I'd like to get it installed. The on-the-fly dpi switch works, but without the software it's not customizable. The default dpi's are 2000, 800, and 400 I believe.
All around, this entry level gaming mouse is a steal for what you get. If it doesn't work for you, then it's only $25 down the drain. I was actually going to buy the MX518, if the X5 wasn't going to work out... but fortunately it did :P
Great mouse and a solid upgrade over basic mice bundled with most desktops. The forward/backward buttons on the left side are quite useful for web and folder browsing, and the adjustable DPI buttons are great for gaming. Don't get this if you're a lefty though because it's designed for righties. I'm a lefty but was raised using the mouse right-handed.
I've been a PC gamer for 15 years and I've never had a dedicated "gaming" mouse. I've always used premium mice that featured several extra buttons for customizing. I never really felt like I was missing out on anything not having a specialized gaming mouse, and I still don't really feel like I'm missing out on much. The Sidewinder does have a nice list of features, but nothing really stood out as features I really needed to enhance my gaming experience.
I will admit, at first I didn't think I would like the way the side buttons stick out so much and was used to the buttons on my Logitech Revolution even though they weren't necessarily intended for gaming. After using the Sidewinder, I very much prefer the buttons to stick out. It doesn't feel as comfortable for some reason, but it the buttons are much easier to access. Other than that, I am not overly concerned about it's 10 million click lifespan. And moisture resistant coating? Maybe I don't game enough, but I don't have a problem with wet mice. ;) I've had three mice in my entire life and none of them ever broke, I just wanted to upgrade to newer technology. Also, being that they're fairly inexpensive, I don't fret over having to buy a new one every 5+ years.
As for it's other features, the quick turn is nice in certain situations but most of the gaming I do, the quick turn is ignored. And I honestly don't notice any difference with it's "2000 DPI Laser Tracking Engine" and "Engineered for Speed" design. I don't feel any faster than with my old mouse! The rubber scroll wheel is standard on most mice and didn't notice anything special there either. And regarding it being called "wide", I can't say it's but a tiny bit wider than a standard mouse wheel. The ability to create macros out of game was an interesting touch, but I honestly didn't dabble into it much. There's really no reason not to just make your macros in game. That's what I'm used to and that's how I like it.
Overall, for it's current price I'd say it's an excellent buy and definitely delivers in every aspect. Don't expect it to somehow make you better at gaming or make your gaming easier. It just doesn't do much for me to make it an obvious choice for gaming over any other premium mouse on the market.
My initial reaction to this mouse was quite poor. It looked and felt light, flimsy, and very plastic. Most are plastic, of course, but little is done to give this one any texture, weight, or character. I've had packaging material that was more noteworthy.
The difficulty for me, I suppose, was that I was coming from a Logitech G9 Laser Mouse, which has a body you can switch out according to the hand feel you desire, and an adjustable weight system. I don't mean to compare the two, as they're from completely different classes, but it is worth pointing out that the transition from one to the other made for a disappointing experience.
The X5 may well be the entry level gaming mouse for Microsoft. Right on the exterior of the box, you're greeted by a comparison chart between this model, and the Microsoft SideWinder Gaming Mouse, a closely priced alternative that includes adjustable weights and an LCD display. It shouldn't have to feel like an entry level option though, and it absolutely does.
As a performer? I have no complaints. The side buttons (which feel a little like wobbly posts) are well placed and, well, functional. It's a relatively large mouse, providing a more 'full' feel in the hand (not unlike the Logitech G5 Laser Mouse (931376-0403)) than the G9 I lost to use and abuse. Over just under a month, I've given this mouse a lot of use, and to its credit, I stopped thinking about the fact that it was new and different a few days in. Which is to say that it didn't stand out enough to bother me, it performed well enough that I was never distracted by it.
Frankly, I'm not sure what else to ask of a mouse in this price range. If you're more concerned about the price than the 'feel,' this may be a solid option for you. After all, when this one dies, I'll feel like I got my money's worth, when the G9 bowed out after 6 months of use because of a problem with the connection between the cable and the mouse body itself, I didn't feel like I had received my money's worth. So it's all relative.
Will I buy another one of these when this one goes? No, probably not. I miss the weight, feel, and at least perception of quality craftsmanship I got with the Logitech mice.
This (and all other Sidewinder mice) is a very large mouse. I have fairly large hands, and I still have to reach a bit for the side buttons. At first when gaming with it I had a hard time finding the side buttons. But after just a day or two, I had memorized the layout. It works great for me now, and I really like the layout. The "pinky rest" also takes some getting used to, as most mice let your pinky drag on the mouse pad.
The adjustable sensitivity buttons are great, although I don't use this feature too much. The clicks are firm, without being too loud. The scroll wheel is very tactile, without being loud as well. Perfect for my tastes.
If you have larger hands, this is the best budget gaming mouse on the market. It may take some getting used to, but it all pays off in the end. I feel it helped with my FPS games over my logitech MX310.
I'd say that I have fairly large hands (in terms of lab gloves, "large" gloves or size 7.5 are a perfect fit if that provides a reference). For my paws, this mouse is absolutely perfect, and I think it'd be ideal for people with larger hands as well. Might be a bit too large to comfortably use the side buttons if you have small hands. Medium hands would probably be fine, but it wouldn't be as euphoric of a fit (just a guess).
I absolutely love the mouse. It is awesome for gaming, and much better for use on a very large monitor than the cheapo mouse I was using before. Absolutely recommended, especially at this price! Also, Microsoft mice have always been high quality in my experience, and the 3 year warranty is solid. You really can't go wrong.
Great product. Fits naturally into my hand, the extra buttons are well placed for gaming. Everything on the mouse feels very well put together. If you don't mind using a wired mouse, this is about as good as it gets for the price. The only negative I can think of is that the scroll mouse clicks each time that you move it. This doesn't really bother me, but some people may like a smoother scroll wheel.
