I always loved this series. Now it comes combined. Good buy for the RPG/Adventure game fan.
I have a few friends that have played Heroes III on and off for about 4 years now, so I thought I'd give it a try. If you like Fantasy-turn based strategy games, this is one you should pick up. I bought III & IV for $10, I've put probably 20-30 hours into it and having a great time for the money.
i started with homm5 and was told by a friend number 3 was the best. played it, great game, not as good as 5 but still great addition to any fan of turn combat games
I am trying to find out if anyone knows which versions of the games are available. I would like to purchase, but I bought a Heroes IV game online that was published by Ubisoft and not 3DO, it is incompatible with earlier versions of the software so I could not patch the game. Not only did this eliminate multiplayer, but the game didn't play well and had many bugs and glitches especially graphically in the battles and spell books.
Any help would be much appreciated.
These games are classics that are very unique. I consider it a cross between an RTS and RPG. You go through a somewhat complex story that may require some online reading to catch up with previous story about the worlds you are on. I by far love Heroes IV, Heroes III I always got frustrated with how hard it was. Both games consist of you building up castles and create armies in order to either explore and obtain artifacts or destroy your enemies. Other than intro cut scenes, the plot is textually displayed.
I was skeptical about buying this game since I have seen so many bad reviews about compatibility issues with this on Windows Vista. Game arrived a few days ago and it installed perfectly on my computer without any issues. It also runs fine with no crashes up until this point. Must have for any Heroes fan.
HOMM 3 - terrific game. Hours and hours of fun and definite replayability. Heroes 4 - not so good, actually terrible. For the price, can't complain! Just heroes 3 alone made the game a worthwhile buy. Although as mentioned, does crash periodically on 64 Bit Win 7. Not so much that it becomes actually irritating but has happened a handful of times.
HofMM III is really the game that I want from this package, as IV is just not that enjoyable now that V is out.
However, III crashes frequently on my 64bit win7 and surprisingly doesn't run at all on win7's xp mode. The outdated graphic resolution for III also means that my monitor is too big for the game. I'm planning to play this on my old laptop running xp. Nevertheless, this discounted price and the greatness of HofMM III definitely makes this a worthy purchase.
Great price and delivery. This was purchased for my nephew, after his original game wore out. He gives the game two thumbs up.
this is a old game but i still have playing it on my off time and when i get board with my other games i come back to play this and its always fun :)
I had problems installing the program. Contacted Sold Out Software several times before I got a response. They suggested a few fixes. One of them was trying to install in safe mode. When I use safe mode, my cd/dvd drive is inoperable. I sent an e-mail in return, stating the fixes didn't work. Then I received an e-mail from another firm, Megatronics or something similar. One of the fixes they suggested finally worked. But, after playing one scenario, I removed it from computer and transferred the game to my rejects file. I have played every version of Age Of Empires and Civilization, among others, so this is not my first game experience.
These games were purchased for my 19 year old son who said they started out fun, then quickly he realized that going from one level to the next only meant a repetition of the previous level, for the most part.
