If you are a student pilot you are going to love this game! It helped me on my VFR pilot training. Now that I'm thinking about getting my instrument rating, I know this software is going to help me a lot as well! You have to have a very good graphics card on your system to fully enjoy it.

The MS Flight Sim X Gold Edition from Amazon.com is very enjoyable & works as advertised. Realistic when used with the T.Flight Hostas X joy stick & thruster. I had an active pilots license 20 years ago & had not piloted during the past 20 years... was able to pick it back up in this program. To support this program I did purchase a new high powered lap top with 1 GB video, i7 & 6GBram , Windows 7 & it works great. I am 72 years old & loving to fly again in my home!

Microsoft Flight Sim X-gold is a phenomenal simulator, and Amazon.com had the lowest price by a wide margin. Thanks!

I thought the game was great!I can fly anywhere in the world for free. With all the informatiom places to fly to, it would take me months to go through it.

I bit of history

================

I brought FSX-Gold edition after seeing all the great reviews but could never register it using the product key which came with the discs. With out registering FSX, the acceleration pack couldn't be installed.

Spent 10 to 15 hours with Microsoft support, still nothing. The Microsoft support for this product isn't all that great (maybe because they have closed down their flight sim lab), had to wait long hours to get connected. Once connected need to wait each time you are re-directed and the follow ups are bad too. In all the frustration I returned it!

Second attempt:

===============

After trying out few other flight sims I thought of trying my luck again with FSX; was disappointed initially as I hit the same problem. I reinstalled windows OS (Vista) in my laptop and tried installing FSX, it worked like a charm I was able to register both FSX and acceleration pack.

Once installed it is great fun and worth every penny. I would also recommend the book "Microsoft Flight Simulator X For Pilots Real World Training" along with it, they both are a terrific combination, so I am giving 5 stars to FSX for fun and overall (for some reason the site is not allowing me to give a 5 star for fun)!

The main advantage I see on FSX compared to other popular flight sims is that there is no learning curve involved in FSX. All you need is a good joystick to get started and have a lot of fun. No painful documentation to go through. FSX is the most realistic flight sim I have seen so far. It is really sad that Microsoft has closed down the ACES lab.

Although this was a gift to my daughter, I also have MSFSX, Gold from a previous purchase. I fly this sim several times a day with both the default aircraft, as well as, add-on aircraft. Default scenery is much better then MS2004(fs9, although, it requires more computer power to generate without frame jump. A very great product for the "Flight Sim Pilot"!

Flight simulation for your PC just doesn't get any better than this. Microsoft has been at this for a long time, and they make it better with every release.

A few things seasoned flight simmers will know that new users will certainly WANT to know are:

The system requirements to really make this software work well are dauntingly advanced. You'll need something approaching a top-level gaming machine, with a huge video card, to get the full benefit of the entire visual, audible, advanced controls experience. Got a laptop you think is pretty smokin'? Forget it.

Microsoft follows every release of this product with massive service packs you must download and install, and each one takes a huge chunk out of your hard drive. Be prepared with LOTS of disk space. This particular release (meaning, the "Gold Edition") includes service packs one and two, so you won't need to download them.

An internet connection is required to register the product.

Bottom line is that this is, hands down, the best of the lot, but you really DO need vast hardware resources to run it. If you own those resources, be prepared for a real-time, audio-visual feast.

all i have to say is wow. for the student pilots, like me, this is the perfect filler between real world flying. the missions are extremely fun, ranging from guided flights in a ultra light to a low altitude intercept of a UFO in a A/A-18. over all worth it in full, was at my house the next day with the free shipping, all i had to say was damn that was fast. downside is i wasn't use to the game center so it took me a few minutes to find the launch icon, just be prepared for that, and also u almost need a controller a normal xbox 360 controller works fine, it makes the fling easier in some places.

Flight Sim Gold is a very fun game. With the Acceleration Pack you can fly the Boeing F/18. I really like this game and i played it for 3 days straight!

This is very easy to install and configure. It can be very easy or very difficult depending on how you set it up. Great graphics if you have a good video card otherwise turn the graphics options down.

This game is fun for anyone interested in flying or anything to do with flight! It uses some amazing real world weather and physics to show what a real pilot can experience. I would recommend picking up a copy before it is too late! Microsoft announced it was no longer going to make new FS games but will support with minor updates through 2010!

The latest MS flt Simulation will have you breathless with it's graphics and detail. Flight controls are smooth and very realistic. Training missions will make just about anyone a Flight Sim pilot expert in no time. For best results your computer should have a motherboard & CPU capable of 3.0Ghz with at least 1GB memory. Your video card should have at least 512MB of memory...more is better. With more processing power you can turn up the flight simulations graphics detail.

Great simulator. I didn't expect so much realism in pilotage, navigation and the overall flying experience. You have the controls.

Only drawback for me: The view around doesn't work with DirectX 10 in Vista, so I execute the game with DirectX 9

I purchased earlier versions of flight simulator. This one is the best so far. I used to fly single engine aircraft years ago. This is as much fun as actually flying. I got my private license but with the cost of fuel I gave it up. I flew Cessna and Beechcraft aircraft. If you want to learn how to fly this software is a good start. I use a logitech joy stick but you can use a yoke with rudder pedals to simulate actual flight. Find your local airport and fly out of it. If you can afford it learn how to fly.
