Awsome, I have a reader on my laptop and like it so much I purchased this for a new desk top. It works like a champ, no more searching for passwords, they are now at the tip of my fingers! Great product.

This product is excellent. Works exactly as described for windows pc's. Integrates seamlessly into Vista and software update to make compatible with Firefox 3 was released a day after Firefox released the new version. Encryption is quick and easy and works with any and all password fields including ones not in a web browser. For example, works with passwords in Excel and Adobe Acrobat.

I have no complaints other than I wish I bought this long ago. Easy to use, easy and quick to setup, accurate when reading fingerprint. None of this swipe again nonsense.

A definite convenience and reliable product. Another plus is, it is small enough to carry around with a laptop but big enough for large fingers.

This product is very easy to use and works very well with my 64 bit Windows Vista Home Premium software. I would recommend it highly.

I have been using an APC Biometric mouse for several years. (This is an optical mouse with a fingerprit scanner embedded in the top.) The mouse part finally wore out. When I looked for a replacement I found they have been discontinued.

I ended up replacing it with a Microsoft wireless mouse and this fingerprint scanner. It is a great product with awesome software. It is a small (1/2"Hx1 1/4"Wx3 3/8"L), but sturdily constructed device that sits unobtrusively on my desk. The material on the bottom has a very slight tackiness so the device doesn't slide when you swipe your finger.I thought the OmniPass software that came with the APC unit was good, but this is even better. It's much easier to register fingers and save passwords.

I consider this an upgrade from my previous setup.

I have been using this reader at work for more than 6 months with Windows XP. About a month ago I switched to Windows 7 RC and found that the reader works with that new OS as well. The software that came with the reader, Protector Suite QL v5.8 has no problem with Windows 7 other than not using the new Windows Biometric Framework.

During all this time, I can count the mis-reads on one hand's fingers. It just reads. The software works with more programs than the Microsoft Fingerprint Reader.

When Windows 7 is released on Oct. 22 I will get another one of these readers for using at home, in place of the old Microsoft Keyboard with Fingerprint Reader. I hope that by that time the included software will be the newer Protector Suite 2009 or that at least a free upgrade to the new software will be available.

Update 09/26/2009

Two months later I am just as satisfied as I was when I started using this reader with Windows 7 RC. I am a little concerned though that as we approach the Oct. 22 date, when Windows 7 is released to the masses, there are no signs that Upek will include the newest software (Protector Suite 2009) with the readers. Usually when newer software is available for a product it is either included with the product or it is made available to those who purchased the product for free at the manufacturer's web site.

But there are a little more than 3 weeks left and things could change.

Update 11/07/2009

I received a reply from Upek regarding the software. It looks good:

Hi John,

1. Yes, we are currently updating the packages with the new Protector

Suite 2009 software. Some of our distribution channels currently have

the updates and some are still working through remaining inventory.

2. Yes, customers who bought the product from May 1, 2009 forward are

eligible for Protector Suite 2009 at no additional fee. Can you please

respond to our support team on this email with your proof of purchase

and we can get you a license for Protector Suite 2009.

Installation of the fingerprint reader went without issues (I'm running Windows 7 x64 Ult). Reader works as expected. Registering prints is straightforward, software easy to use, although I won't use all features since I already have Roboform for passwords.

After installation (software version 9.1) I got a notification that a new version (9.2) was available. I downloaded and installed the update and got a message that this is a limited version and it was recommended to select "upgrade to full version". However, when I did that the serial number of my reader was not recognized on the Upek website and I was asked to pay for the upgrade, which I eventually did. I saw a field for a coupon code but did not have one.

After sending an e-mail to Upek customer service I got a response the next day with a coupon code for a free upgrade. But since I already paid for it, Upek immediately issued a full refund. Quite impressive.

I have to admit that I am a gadget guy but this is really a cool and useful tool. After everything is set up, you can visit password protected web-sites with just the swipe of your finger. It won't work on some bank sites because of some protection blocks. But all and all I am very satisfied.

The install for this was a simple as it gets. Very straight forward setup of the reader, and I had both operating systems of my dual-boot (winXP Pro and Vista Ultimate) system up an running with just a fingerprint logon in no time.

The device works flawlessly and I've had no glitches whatsoever!

I highly recommend this gizmo for anyone looking for a biometric logon device.

Had the DigiPersona Microsoft reader, but no support for ie8 or Windows 7. I was upset by the lack of support from Microsoft, or DigiPersona to make it compatable with upgrades, and decided to order this one. I am glad I did. I am more impressed with this reader, and it's versatility than I was with the DigiPersona.

It is really difficult to find an external USB fingerprint reader that comes with or is compatible with descent software. This came with the full version of UPEK Protector Suite 2009. It supports Windows 7, both 32 and 64 bit versions, and is compatible with Active Directory. Unlike some of the competition software on the market, this reader lets you login to Windows with a swipe of the finger immediately after you get to the CTRL-ALT-DELETE screen. Others have around a 3-second lag which is annoying. It can also remember an unlimited number of website passwords for both IE8 and FF3.6. The software is highly configurable to meet anyone's needs. I found it to be the most intuitive reader I have ever used.

I purchased the Eikon Privacy Manager fingerprint scanner to use with my MacBook Pro. The software install was quick and easy with no problems using Mac OS-X.5.2. Also, configuring the software was a snap, choosing whichever digit I wanted was super easy, and adding other users is available, too.

I selected this device based on my need to keep my data secure from prying eyes and have found that it does exactly what it is advertised to do on my laptop.

The single issue that has arisen is that I still, sometimes, forget to plug in the scanner module before starting the laptop. When I do this, it offers me the regular sign-in process or a chance to retry with the scanner inserted. That is my fault entirely and I am trying to make it my regular startup procedure to plug in before starting up.

I have been using the Eikon fingerprint reader to login to my MacBook Pro for about a year now. I appreciate the convenience of just swiping a finger on the reader when those prompts for login password come up. Hopefully the planned integration of eikon Protecter Suite with 1Password will launch soon. This will enable the print reader for web logins. But as it is now it's worth the purchase price for me. Especially considering the really good support the company has provided. I had a serious login issue that turned out not to be related to the fingerprint reader software but they really investigated it to help me determine this. Thank you Eikon.

Currently using it on Vista 32-bit Business, and I haven't had any issues with it. I use it to login instead of typing in my password, as well as storing all my password logins for various websites. For the most part, the software is pretty decent, can't really complain. As for the fingerprint reader itself, it's pretty accurate. It's far better than the fingerprint readers I've used in the past, it can take your fingerprint even if you swipe it relatively quickly, as long as you have full contact with it. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with it.

I ordered one and liked it so well I ordered a second one six days later.

Excellent product would be hard to live without now.
