the game is fun, but i have to say the physics of the game is crap. like launching a knife and hitting the target across the map. it sounds ridiculous. the plot was predictable. overall, its alright.
This has to be one of the best games I've ever played.
Graphically, the game's above average but not amazing. Graphics don't matter anyways.
The gameplay is excellent. I have to admit sometimes it was a little difficult, as I'm an expert PC gamer and died a few times here and there on Recruit. So don't expect teaching your parents or uncles or aunts to be as good as you. This game is intense and highly polished.
Multiplayer is still amazing and I don't miss dedicated servers at all. The amount of customization is amazing and after over 30 hours of Multiplayer have barely scratched the surface. The gametypes are very fun, and I enjoy Domination more than Team Deathmatch. I haven't really played 3rd person, but from what I have played, it was fun.
Spec Ops is fun, but I enjoy singplayer and multiplayer more. I do love the stealth sniper missions very much, but they're very difficult without a partner.
Singleplayer is just excellent. It's full of twists and turns and I was NEVER bored.
Just buy this game. If you don't want to pay $60(which it's totally worth), wait until it's $40 or $50. You won't be disappointed.
It really is that good. I don't understand why people are leaving reviews when they obviously didn't buy the game...
Infinity Ward does it again. Short but sweet single player campaign and some of the best multiplayer to date.
This game is really amazing. It's storyline takes you right from the previous COD game and comes with even better options, graphics and scenery. Tough to put it down once you get playing and a great way to have fun.
It's sad to see all the hating out there, but I guess that's what forums are for. I liked the game. Having played all COD's since the beginning, I thought this one had moments as intense as all others. I liked all the places you got to fight, and I liked the story immensely. Can't wait to play it through a second time...
I think it's rather disgusting to the people who review this game below 5 stars. What's up with all of the one star reviews..? Is that a joke? This game is easily the game of the year. It's THE best multiplayer game to date, and even when Battlefield Bad Company 2 releases, this game will remain on top. If you haven't boughten it by now, please do so now.
I read quite a few reviews (most of them negative) on the Friday following the release of Modern Warfare 2, and decided to try the game for myself anyway. The game cost me $60, and seeing as it's a video game (a luxury item) and not a life sustaining resource, there's no reason to complain about this. If you don't want to pay $60 for a game, either don't buy it, or wait for the price to go down.
Single player was fairly short, although there are the standard CoD hidden intelligence items, which took a few replays to find. The enemy AI seems more advanced than in previous CoD games, which makes Veteran difficulty somewhat challenging. That being said, I completed single player within a week of casual playing. The story was deeper than that of previous CoD games, and twice as ridiculous. It's a video game; unrealistic story = fun.
Multiplayer is give or take. If you can get around limited server size (16 players max), mid-game pauses for hosting reallocation, and noob tubes from space, it's a fantastic experience. I especially like the riot shield/throwing knife combination.
I'm just going to keep this as short as possible...
This game does not deserve all of these 1 star ratings that it is getting. This game is amazing, the graphics are absolutely stunning on my 8800 gt overclocked graphics card. The online multiplayer is better than cod4 hands down. I have had almost every fps shooter that has ever come out and the top three that I play are modern warfare 2, left for dead 2, and counter strike source. I think it's definetly a good idea that they put the game on steam, it automatically patches the game for you and updates it so you don't have to go online looking for one.
Another great thing about this game is that the killstreaks are different in this game ranging from calling in a UAV (3 killstreak) to calling in a tactical nuke (25 killstreak). There are also approximately 15 other killstreak rewards which make the game way better than cod4 in which you could only call in a UAV, airstrike, and helicopter. I think my favorite killstreak would have to be the chopper gunner (11 killstreak) where you are actually the gunner of a helicopter. Nothing feels more powerful than wiping out the entire team multiple times from the air above. Don't let the fact that there are no dedicated servers hold you back from buying this game. It has a fantastic single player and multiplayer, as well as co-op/single player specials ops. I fully believe this game is worth the $60 I paid at gamestop. Get the game, you won't regret it!

It's amazing all these negative reviews are coming from people who have not brought the game. How can you rate a game you have not played. A lot of people are complaining about multiplayer. Well have you played the multiplayer for COD Modern Warfare 2? Also stop complaining about the $60 price no one forcing you to buy it. I have brought all of the COD games is this is by far the best one. Stop trying to persuade others from buying this game.
Purchasing of this item went very well and arrived from Amazon.com on time. Loading of this item onto the computer had no glitches and everyone that plays this game is thrilled. Great Game and Good Price for the Game at that time.
Betrayal. That's the single word that best summarizes this sham of a release by Activision and Infinity Ward.
They have betrayed everyone possible at every step they could. They betrayed their own PC roots by not including dedicated server support, a staple feature of practically every multiplayer first person shooter in the past 10 years. With the removal of dedicated servers also goes custom map support, mod support, and competitive (clan) gaming support, again, all staples of practically every multiplayer first person shooter in the past 10 years. They further betrayed all PC gamers by raising the price by $10, with absolutely nothing to make up for it.
I would claim that they even betrayed Steam, the very platform they base the game's activation server and anti-cheat server, by not allowing digital download copies of the game to be activated on release day. This will no doubt cause a flurry of cancellations from Steam as impatient gamers go out to buy the boxed copy instead.
It's also ironic that they betrayed the very reason that they gave for dropping dedicated server support: simplicity for casual players. Instead of browsing a list of available servers, many players are now told that they must change their NAT settings from "strict" to "open". If you don't know what I just said, don't worry, I'm sure most people have no idea what a NAT even is.
I can give many other examples of such betrayals, but I'll leave it with this: I believe that Activision has betrayed the entire gaming industry. Activision CEO Bobby Kotick said that one of his goals was (and I quote) "to take all the fun out of making video games." Supporting this game would in fact be supporting the very antithesis of what gaming is all about.
I actually bought this game even though it will be the last Infinity Ward game I support by purchasing. I've been a huge fan of said developer since Call of Duty 1, a PC exclusive, since day one. I've purchased every single Call of Duty game developed by Infinity Ward over the years (including the expansion for CoD1 which wasn't developed by them). I never had a problem purchasing their products. Until now. This is the first time I've ever felt like a total tool and a moron for purchasing their "PC game".
The game IS phenomenal. The graphics are noticeably improved over Modern Warfare 1, despite using the same graphics engine. The overhaul is there, but a lot of current gen games have better visuals. Sound design is great as always. There's a lot of recycled sounds and some new ones. Multiplayer is more of the same which isn't a bad thing, and the new co-op mode, from what I've played so far, seems fun. That's where my positive review ends. So basically you get more of the same, with slightly upgraded graphics.
Here's where things turn bad. For starters, Activision is charging $60 for this game, a move that completely goes against the grain of PC game pricing trends. Why? Because they can. It's a business move, yes, but it's completely immoral and greedy. Corporate greed rears its ugly head. Activision are the new EA. You would think for $10 you would get, oh I don't know, a longer than average single player campaign right? Well you don't. If you thought Modern Warfare's campaign was short prepare to get slapped in the face with a campaign that can easily be completed in one session. Bigger price, smaller experience.
But most people are probably buying it for multiplayer anyway, so let's discuss that. Basically it's all been said before. This is a console port, right down to being limited to 9v9. Want to get your clan together for some 32 vs. 32? Nope. 16 vs 16? Nope. Oh come on then....at least give me some 12 v 12. Sorry Charlie. You get 9v9, just like the console. And just like the console you can't sort servers and pick where you want to play, you can't tweak game parameters via a developer console (another PC industry standard that Infinity Ward think's it's too good to implement), and, OH, no dedicated server support.
Frankly, I'm surprised the PC port even allowed me to play with a mouse and keyboard....
It's painfully obvious that Infinity Ward prefer console development at this point (particularly the 360, which gets exclusive content before anybody else for the second game in row now), and it's even clearer that Activsion are greedy jerks.
It was a good run, Infinity Ward, but just like real life I won't associate with conceited, big-headed people. You won't get any more of my money. MW2 gets one star for actually being a fun game, but insulting PC gamers by lying about features that never made it to the game (dedicated servers, more people per server than the console versions, etc), and the fact that your publisher is price gouging, keeps it from scoring higher.
I have not read all the reviews for this game because there are just too many, but most of the ones I have read complain a lot about 2 things, 1) multiplayer and 2) shortness of campaign. Well, I do not buy video games for multiplayer so I will ignore that aspect of the game. The campaign is pretty short though. I am not at all an expert gamer, and I finished it in about 10 hours. But at the same time, for me there is plenty of replayability. I played it on the lowest difficulty setting, meaning I can still try it again at the higher levels later on, and I know I will.
All in all I think it is a really good game. The graphics are awesome, it runs nice and smooth on my computer, the story, while short is pretty intense. I wont do any spoiling but many aspects of the story I did not see coming and I was very pleased with how it all unfolded. The only thing I will say is that I am sure there will be a Modern Warfare 3 and I will await that eagerly. So, if you are a top notch expert gamer, then maybe this is not enough for you, but for someone like me, this is a good addition to the overall series and I can see myself replaying many times. I got it right away and paid the $60 but you know it will be coming down in cost soon and you may just want to wait and get it then.
great game easy on first level great aftergame play although you must have an internet connection better than COD modern warfare ! Did not care for steam play system better write your password down very hard to retrieve if lost!
