If you only have a PC, then DO NOT buy this game! Save your money for Bad Company 2. And if you don't want to wait that long for your money to rack up without a good FPS online game, just buy Battlefield 2. It is almost the same as Bad Company but without destructible environments. The graphics on Bad Company are slightly better than Battlefield 2, but they BOTH will make your blood pressure spike if you are in a good online match on both Battlefield games.

If you have a PS3, Modern Warfare 2 is a good choice IF you have more than one controller. Local Multiplayer is REALLY FUN on PS3 with MW2, but Bad Company 2 is good too. Both are good games on PS3, but Battlefield: Bad Company 2 PWNZ MW2 on PC.

The graphics in this game are a real step up from previous versions. The single player portion of the game actually goes pretty fast, but, they keep it interesting.

The online multiplayer portion again has great graphics but you'd better be wearing your seat beat! It's fast and furious to be sure. The servers hosting the games seem to switch a lot for unknown reasons.

Well I can honestly say that I played the multiplayer for about 6 hours or so and then we did some 4 man private DM and all without much of a hitch. I love this game, yeah it kind of sucks that its basically a console port but aside that difference its a solid game.

I got great frame rates, on average I never lagged and my year old video card held strong and wasnt a problem with the graphic settings at a fairly high level.

My only gripe besides the fact that its a console port but its done very well, is the POS Steam engine, that seamed to cause us the most problems for most of the night, but thats not Infinity Wards problem.

Another thing I noticed, if there was a person with a bad ping, it would normally kick them and would try to keep everyone with good ping.

All in all I dont think this game is as bad as people said it would be, especially since most of those haters havnt even bought the game and are just assuming. I recommend this game to anyone, at least try it, its really not that bad, if you want to play in a clan, setup your own private server! If your a hardcore clan player with more then 9 players this might not be for you, but for the average gamer this game is all about having fun and just shooting people in the face!

I give this 3/5 stars overall because of the backstabbing from Activision, you all know the issues, but aside those differences this is a very fun game to play.

I imagine that if you stumble upon my humble review of Modern Warfare 2, you must have already ready through 10+ one star reviews complaining about this game. It's probably rather superfluous of me to talk about this product given the amount of feedback that there is, but I still cant resist to throw in my own 2 cents. All the negative comments that you are seeing here about this game are all in fact true and substantiated. The campaign, while very interesting is extremely short and linear. The multiplayer lacks dedicated servers (by far the biggest problem) and does not allow more than 18 people to play simultaneously (also very annoying if you like me, prefer larger scale battles). There is a decent amount of lag while playing online and sometimes there is a long wait for players to join a game. Finally, there is no reason for a PC game to be costing $60, a $10 increase over the standard new release price.

The graphics improvements are pretty impressive, however the general gameplay remains largely unchanged, with riot gear being the one true innovation. Multiplayer maps seem to encourage a faster pace game over a more tactical and positional one that was more prevalent in Modern Warfare 1 and World at War.

I am pretty much a 100% multiplayer FPS person, so despite the many shortcomings, there is still some fun to be had playing this game online. Basically, if you want a bit of a change of pace and a distraction from playing World at War and Modern Warfare 1 online and dont mind grossly overpaying, then get this product. If you expect to be impressed and totally hooked, then you are in for a major disappointment.

So to conclude, does it meet the expectations of this long anticipation? Absolutely not. Is it worth $60? Again, a resounding no. Is there a chance that Activision/Infinity Ward will do something to correct the multiplayer experience? Probably not, yet I am still a bit hopeful.

Thanks for reading.

...which is to say it's a horrible PC game. Regardless of what the "gamers" say on these reviews that rate it anything other than a 1* or IGN's laughable 95% review of this game for PC, the PC version is a prime example of why it will be pirated, and why I don't really care if it is.

First off, this is an actual good improvement of MW2. Everything is greatly tweaked, everything looks nice, and the co-op is top notch. But if you plan on making a 5* product on the PC, IW, you can't cut features and then raise the price. There's absolutely no excuse for reason for charging $60 for this game. That's a -1*. Greed should never be rewarded. Then there's the lack of dedicated servers. P2P isn't the worst thing ever, but it's not good. It really is only as good as the host. That's another star removed. Then we took out mods. And the reason this was taken out is because now PC gamers have the "privledge" of spending $10 for 3-4 maps when they need some more cash. In other words, mods were taken out to solely make money. Greed. -2* for the greed and the removal of mods. That leaves us with 1*. That's about all this game is. A 1* title on the PC. Console, easily a 5*. Not on the PC.

I hope the pirates manage to hack the netcode and allow dedicated servers and mods. IW deserves to get burned on this one.

This review addresses PC online multiplayer issues ONLY.

This is no COD Modern Warfare in terms on online playability.

Yes I bought it and yes I have played it a lot.

Incorporating the console method of multiplayer matchmaking on the most anticipated online FPS of the year is just pathetic.

It will be the last Infinity Ward game I ever purchase.

The phrase "Less for More" applies here.

I'm lucky I can even play it on my DSL 1.5 connection.

Online matches just abruptly end and migration to another host is horrible at best.

It's still worth purchasing if you loved COD MW multiplayer, but it is 2 steps back for the franchise and that is both unacceptable and reprehensible.

The game itself is fine (graphics, & sound). It's just the Steam based interface that has to go!

I loved the first Modern Warfare, so when I heard there was a sequel, it had my pre-order. The gameplay is great, the action scenes are intense, and the whole thing comes together beautifully. My only complaint is the way it tells its story. You will beat the game, and have an idea of what happened and why, but not fully understand it. I ended up looking up online for an explanation, and now I understand it. But after seeing the explanation, and comparing it to how the game was telling it, its a big stretch. As for all the cry babies complaining about the lack of dedicated servers, don't let that stop you from buying it. I can't understand completely divorcing a game and company over its multiplayer. Just grow up, but thats another story.

With the multiplayer, I was able to log in, and in a few clicks, and I was playing an online match. Never had a problem with it. So thats that.

Great game all in all. If it wasn't for the story, it might have gotten game of the year instead of Uncharted 2.

I will keep it short

I could not stand it I had to buy it and to my surprise it's not bad.I am half way through the game and it's the most fun I have ever had in single player. As far as multiplayer we all know the problem's but I did have fun.The most people I had in a TDM match was 8.I have been playing FPS game on PC since Medal of Honor AA.Would it be better if it had servers like we have had in the past? Without a doubt. But I think that people would be surprised if they would play it.Is it worth $60? No $40 would be good.

Steam is a joke for the setup it took over an hour to install the game.

Likes make this short and sweet. I used to be a professional gamer so i would suggest i have educated position on an FPS. I signed the petition begging for dedicated serves, and griped when it came out about it to everyone that would listen. You know what. The game is still fun. I would like to see the option for dedicated servers at least for clans. Don't have to give us points just let us have a our own private matches with out hoping we can get someone one in the middle of the country with a good ping. But that aside, its been a blast. I have to admit i have been in the thing non stop since it came out so I'm not going to knock the entire thing.

I'm a single player gamer. I toyed with the idea of getting this game since it came out. Unfortunately, the bad USER/PLAYER reviews and cost kept me from getting it. It was given to me as a Christmas gift and I'm so glad it was. I would have been sorely disappointed if I had paid for it.

The Good: This game is as good as the original when it comes to graphics, sound and game play. The game is action packed and to me seems like non-stop fighting which is probably why I was able to finish it in 2 days.

The BAD : I finished it in 2 days, maybe 6 hours total play on the "hardened" setting. There are around 18 missions total for the single campaign mode. "F.E.A.R. 2" has over 50. The Spec-Ops mode, I have found boring. It's just replaying a mission or section of the game over again with a time restriction.

So, if you're looking for a long playing game, this IS NOT it! It is super fun for the SHORT time you get to play.

Personally, I would wait for this game to come down in cost to $20 or less. I think it should have come out as an expansion pack and not a full blown game.

I hope this helps those on the wall considering this game.

im not gonna give the reasons like everyone else who didn't buy the game. Single player is like the others, pretty cool. Multiplayer works like IW said it would. But, i dont like it.

Great game! Steam is annoying, but the gameplay is still great. Some cheaters. I have played for about 300 hours and it is still fun. Campaign is short, but well made. No dedicated servers hurts the game, but does not ruin it. Great to play when you have friends, we use Skype to communicate. I believe there is no better game out there until the next COD, they have not made weird futuristic weapons yet and will not(I sure hope not)! Not as violent as COD World at War.

I love the single player kind of short but overall loved it. I have this product both for Xbox and PC. With the PC sometimes it takes a while to connect to a lobby but when you do it is worth it. As I am sure that many other buyer's have stated if they had dedicated servers it would be alot better. Also sometimes with Steam it will not allow me to run the game just because Steam is down.

  • from Amazon

More of the same - in a good way, mostly. The choices that prevent my personal favourite method of play, tactical realism (TR), are irritating, to put it mildly. Otherwise, the lack of dedicated servers doesn't bother me, as the level of cheating on them gets rather old. As to the game itself, single-player mode seems to be reasonably well thought out, with a few interesting surprises. The look and control aspects are exactly the same as the previous two iterations, the real change is in new maps. The graphics have improved a bit, as well. The addition of SpecOps mode is interesting, and the increasing variability of what to expect during repeats of the scenarios is welcome (i.e., the AI doesn't act exactly the same every run-through), though still clearly in its infancy. Multiplayer adds a few new types of play, and several interesting combinations. For someone like myself, who only plays a couple of hours a week, it's an uphill struggle with the fanboys who have perfected run-n-gun bunny-hopping, or in the higher levels of the SpecOp SP scenes.

Pros:

- Despite all the cons, the game is still a lot of fun.

- Lots of new maps, weapons, perks, killstreaks, game types, camo's and more.

- No more intrusive punkbuster anti-cheat tool - this game using VAC, which I greatly prefer.

- Patched and updated fairly often

Cons:

- No dedicated servers. This is significant and results in:

* Laggy servers because you're connecting to some random guy on AOL and running AIM in the background of their computer.

* Hosts leaving the game - results in the game stopping and "host migration" to occur - which sometimes fails

* "Failed to connect" message often

* "Failed to join server" message often

* No customizable maps

* No mods (I miss those fun zombie mods from Cod4)

* Since there are no admins, you cannot kick players. This results in: more hackers, people can mass spam and curse with no consequences.

* Cannot choose which maps you want to play. If you dislike a map and join a game - tough luck. If you leave, it counts as a loss.

* Max amount of people allowed in a game is significantly smaller than Cod4. I believe 8v8 is the max.

- Lots of hacking: Every session I play there is atleast one person using one of the following: Aimbot, texture hacks, wallhack, ESP hack, and more.

- Slow to fix exploits: One exploit took months to fix despite the amount of time to fix it would only take minutes.

- The game encourages cheap and noobish ways to get kills: Camping, heartbeat censors, commando pro (teleportation), noobtubes

- Nukes: If someone gets 25 kills in a row, they can end the game, even if your team was winning.
