Tony Hawk: Ride Skateboard Bundle (Xbox 360)
Tony Hawk: Ride Skateboard Bundle (Xbox 360) Reviews
I saw this in the store, and thought it looked really fun. I ordered it, and found it to be the most active videogame I ever played. Its like all the fun Tony Hawk games from before, but it adds the challenge of controlling the game with your feet. It requires some balance, but was really easy to pick up and play. My young son did it even better than I did, and actually worked up a sweat. We took turns trying for the high score, and it turned into a real party game.
Net, I would recommend this to anyone who loves videogames, but would like them to be even more realistic and active.
I only played this game once. It was decent, the controls(motion/tilting) for free-skating were a bit too sensitive and hard to use. Beginner mode was much better.(on rails skating, all you do is jump and trick) Some of the tricks didn't always perform or performed the wrong trick. Overall, it was an ambitious title that probably succeeded at creating a great concept that could then be improved upon.
And here comes the "But...":
This game could've been a great first step...if it wouldn't have fallen on its face.
As I said, I played the game once. When I went back to play the game again, the board didn't work. Period. It wouldn't turn on or anything. If I held the guide button or all the buttons down, it would blink, but it would not turn on. I tried replacing the batteries. I tried leaving the batteries out to let any cached memory drain. Nothing. I finally went on the support sight. Sure enough, there was a FAQ that said if the board was not turning on, contact support and send it in for a replacement.
That did it. For all the time and money I'd have to waste getting it fixed, it wasn't worth it. That game isn't that good. Granted, I may have gotten to like it more and grown accustomed to the controls, IF I could've played it.
Anyway, think twice before buying this. Read reviews, watch trailers; make sure it looks good enough to you to invest the possible time and money should it go lemon on you.
I purchased this for my 12 year old grandson who stayed up all night Christmas playing the game. He said it's really "Neat". Even though you know you're on solid flooring you still tend to lose balance. It's great for him, being situated in snowy Illinois and unable to skateboard outside right now.
