PURE off-road, trick-racing video game for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Windows published by Disney Interactive Studios and developed by Black Rock Studio (formerly Climax Racing, the developers of the Moto GP and ATV Offroad Fury franchises), this entry defers from the other off-road titles in the arcade style gameplay, and incredible, but yet not realistic tricks and jumps.
GAMEPLAY (5 out of 5): Excellent mix between arcade and off-road semi-simulation, while is more focus into the arcade style you will need to master both if you want to win, the controls are really good, and are fun and easy to get into it.
GRAPHICS (5 out of 5): This game is simply beautiful, breath taking graphics, landscapes, model design, stage design, character design, everything in this game looks amazing, minimal frame drop.
SOUND (5 out of 5): The soundtrack is amazing, really good selection that goes perfectly with the game, the effects are also great, really good stuff.
LASTING APPEAL: (4 out of 5): The single player mode length is decent you can play it a couple times, is a fun game, on-line is a more than welcome add-on to the game, 2-4 players split screen wouldnt hurt any one.
OVERALL (5 out of 5): PURE is just simply fun, plus is a beautiful game, is one of those games that everyone likes, is subtle for all ages, and is really, really fun, there is a bit of challenge on the tricks, but everything else is really well made, buy PURE you wont regret it.
I'm not usually turned on by racing games. They tend to be repetitive, bland, and one dimensional. Pure is a different breed of racing game in that it not only goes over the top, but it also adds a level of customizability you don't see in many ATV or MX games (choose your rider, axel, frame, shocks, handle bars, paint, decals, everything). The graphics are beautiful. Draw distances are incredible with great vistas and scenery. I like how the terrain gets tore up with every lap (similar to Motorstorm). Controls are easy to learn and very responsive. The physics aren't meant to be totally realistic, but that's the fun of this game (implausible, impossible, and unlawful). It's got multiplayer. It's got every kind of race under the sun. It still ventures into that repetitive pitfall that most racing games suffer from, but it doesn't last too long. It's worth a shot (maybe rent it or buy used).
This game is very pleasing to the eyes, and even offers complete ATV customization. The various modes and stunts will entertain for hours. This games goes off the beaten path compared to recent off-road titles and delivers. As long as you are even remotely interested, you should purchase this game.
