This game showed so much promise. Finally a game similar to Zelda and GoW on 360? Sign me up! I was sorely disappointed after playing for 6 hours that this game is a mess. The controls are HORRIBLE...especially for a boss fight like Tiamat, where you need to click 10 different things to throw sticky bombs onto a moving object while trying to avoid fire blasts and the dragons charges. I am an avid gamer and rarely have i been so frustrated by how CHEAP a game can be based on crap controls. I am taking this piece of dung to Gamestop and trading it in toward a prepurchase of Dante's Inferno. Lets hope EA handles their end better than THQ.
Why this game is Awesome.
I love this game. The graphics are great, the story is straightforward yet compelling, the combat is amazing, and the puzzles are challenging. Darksiders is a terrific game and a blast to play. All of the negative comments seem to be based on the fact that it is like "Prince of Persia, with elements of Zelda and God of War mixed in" or something to that effect. Well, I have never played any of those games, so to me it is just a great game. Imagine if someone told you a new movie was out that had the story and character motivation of The Lord of the Rings, the space battles of Star Trek II The Wrath of Kahn, and the hyperkinetic light saber fights of Revenge of the Sith. Now imagine you had never seen any of those. You would probably think it was an awesome film. That is Darksiders. Don't listen to the negatives. This is a great game, and more to the point, really fun and enjoyable to play, which is what a game should be.
So, I was looking for a new action game to play, when I came across the trailer for this. It included some interviews with the programmers, also. I was very intrigued by the story, so I jumped on it. Once I got the game figured out, it was actually pretty fun. I guess I can do as some others did, and say its kind of like God of War, but hey, I love God of War! Instead of axes attached to chains, you wield this very large sword, which looks pretty good, and gets stronger as you move along in the game. Yes, it has plenty of puzzles you need to solve in order to move...but, that's a good part of the challenge. I gave it 4 stars, because for some reason, it felt like something was lacking...I just can't figure it out. But, well worth playing...can't wait to see what they do with Darksiders 2!
