"Great songs and excellent for families. A real nice selection of beatles songs, older and newer. Recommend for all."
"If you are a beatles fan, then you should buy this game, it is so cool."
If you havn't played any other rockband titles before, this has a training mode that teaches the moves needed to play music. You can spend as much time as you want practicing. When you feel ready to move on, you select a song from the list, rated easy or hard, and start to play. It takes practice to get it right but some songs are fairly easy and it is fun trying to do better each time while listening to a great beatle song. This game includes most of the beatles greatest hits. It will keep you busy for a long time. I've just started and see that there is a very wide variety things to do.
The Wii The Beatles: Rock Band - Software Only can be purchased alone (as with this packaging - SOFTWARE ONLY) or as part of the following: Wii The Beatles: Rock Band Limited Edition Premium Bundle which includes a microphone, microphone stand, special edition bass guitar replica and drum set. The Wii The Beatles: Rock Band Special Value Edition can also be purchased and costs less because the instruments included are not the 'special edition' ones. That being said, this review is for the software only... not the band kit.
THE SOFTWARE:: Wii - The Beatles: Rock Band
If you own a Wii and have instruments that can play the 'Rock Band' games - you've got to get this game! The beauty of it is in the graphics - superior to other Rock Band titles, and in the nostalgia. Few of the Rock Band games include so many songs that you know by heart, and whether you're a diehard Beatles fan or have simply enjoyed their music off and on, you'll play this game for the sheer enjoyment of it - again and again.
The interface of the game is easy to follow and the toughest part is syncing the instruments (not included in this package). Songs are laid out for you in terms of difficulty and then you can further tweak the gameplay by making your instrument 'easy-difficult' to play.
If you want to download (via Wii Internet connection - the same one you use to update your firmware and add channels) you will find the 'add music' in the game's menu (at the bottom). Each new song will cost you though, about 200-400 Wii points. Wii points can be added via credit card, PayPal or via a card: Nintendo 2000 Points Card (DSi or Wii); like this one.
The downloadable songs are limited, but undoubtedly the library will grow. I added 'When I'm 64', to try it out, but hate the idea of paying for the downloads so will probably keep that to a minimum. It does seem like they could have offered this service for free, but then again, if we'll pay... why would they?
Overall this game is certainly one of the most fun available for the Wii. It is easy to learn (both my 74 year old old mother and my 11 year old daughter picked it right up) and very, very fun! I highly recommend it for any family looking to establish an all-age friendly library of Wii games.
