I was apprehensive when I heard about the on-rails feature of the game. But I found that it makes the game easier to play and focus on. The only problem is that the camera angle changes quickly sometimes when you are trying to pick up items. But the files, pickups, and ability to customize weapons is very fun.
The chapters are a lot of fun as well, offering alternative versions of what could have happened during the Resident Evil games. Some have complained that Resident Evil 2 is not featured, but this isn't exactly true, as many of the scenes from Resident Evil 0 and 3 are commiserate with Resident Evil 2.
The game also incorporates characters from the Outbreak series, as well as features from Resident Evil 4. It is alot of fun to shoot out lights and other objects, and make barrels and other objects explode. This game is worth every penny.

What can I say?! I really enjoyed this game. I'm a Wii owner and found this to be a terrific interface with the system. The voice commentary you hear as you move on the rails through the many different levels is really terrific, the cut scenes are inviting, and I found myself really emerced in a VERY challenging first person on the rails shooter. I challenge anyone to get S class on everything on Hard mode!

Umbrella Chronicles was made as an arcade-style "on rails" shooter. You take aim and fire at enemies while the camera and movement automatically guides you through the levels. I am having a fun time with this game.
You will be taken through select events from Resident Evil Zero, Resident Evil, Resident Evil 3 and the events leading up to Resident Evil 4. Unfortunately, RE2 is left out for some reason. But, if you never played those games before you get a nice tour through all those games and get a good dose of the storyline.
Almost all environmental objects can be shot at and destroyed and you actually want to shoot EVERYTHING. Many objects hide ammo, grenades, health restores and hidden files (to read later in the archives). Many levels have multiple paths if you choose to take them. Weapons can be customized to increase their capacity. You are ranked after each chapter and you will want to go back and reply the levels to find everything you missed to increase your ranking.
There is lots of voice over, nice full motion video, great sound effects and of course the creepy music from each of the respective games. The game runs in 16:9 and 480p. Two players can also play through the game cooperatively.
So, here is the deal, as long as you understand this isn't a semi free-roaming game like RE4 was, you will have a fun time. Many people thought this was supposed to be like RE4 and it wasn't supposed to be like that at all.
