I bought this game knowing perfectly what I was going to get, since I had already completed all 3 games before. For those who haven't played any or some of the Metroid Primes, I guarantee you will not be disappointed. First of all, they all retain the incredible mood and atmosphere from Super Metroid. The pacing, however, while perfect in the Prime 1, is not as good in Prime 3, and is pretty broken in Prime 2. Metroid Prime 1 by itself is very well worth $50 today and everyday, but getting all 3 games for the same price is really something you should not pass up on. That doesn't mean that Prime 2 and 3 aren't good either; They are excellent games in their own way (all 3 Prime games are different when it comes to game design), and very well worth getting.
In short, you shouldn't even be reading a review for this game, if its there and you have the money, then you should have already clicked "add to cart". There really aren't many games out there, for any console, better than this.

Shortly put, this trilogy has the best that Nintendo has to offer for both average and hardcore gamers. Great controls, graphics, and environments have set the bar high back at the original release in 2004 and continue that tradition with the other two installments. This collection will keep you busy for well over 50 hours of awesome exploring and puzzle solving as well.
Both of the Gamecube releases have been given a Wii facelift with some texture and lighting upgrades as well as new Wii-mote controls.
This is a great buy for any fan or new player to the series. Due to the great value and awesome production values in the quality game I give the Metroid Prime Trilogy full marks.

That's Metroid Prime Trilogy for the Wii in a nutshell!
The first 2 games were on the Gamecube. However, Nintendo--after having released Metroid Prime 3: Corruption on the Wii several years back--has gone back and taken its prizeworthy formula and implemented it on all 3 games and packaged it as a single game! Is it worth the full price? You bet!
You get lovely eye-candy graphics (even for a Wii - it's beautiful) with Wii remote motion controls that allow you to pivot your aim naturally with the nunchuck controlling your movement. It's such a natural fit that you can't believe that this game could ever have been played on a cramped controller without the ability to aim by pointing at the screen. Most controls take a little learning curve, but once learned, you'll never forget them.
This is how a FPS is meant to be played on a console that allows you to take aim with something that points instead of something that you try to get a feel for on a joystick that you twirl around, taking you out of the action.
As for the game itself, there are plenty of puzzles to be had in addition to the shoot 'em up action that most FPS have. Levels are not necessarily linear...you may go down corridors and mazes that end up in access points that you can't quite get through yet. Some of these access points build-up on each other requiring different armors or weapon upgrades in order to completely pass unexplored areas. Some upgrades are not necessarily required, but are nice to have thus requiring some skill in mastering how to jump, morph into a ball (one of Samus's--the character that you play--abilities for the uninitiated), and bomb-jump your away into certain keyed access points. It's fun and the formula doesn't get old.
Also, the ability to scan various aliens and objects gets you immersed in a wealth of background information of alien species, ancient alien cultures, etc., that augments the overall experience in the game. Some of it is necessary and some of it is not, but it adds up to a FPS that goes beyond the conventional traversing from point A to point B and destroying everything in between because it's there to be shot.
Levels are quite expansive and challenging, but not overly-challenging to the point of frustration. There's a great blend of difficulty that will keep you coming back for more with many hours of gameplay ahead...and that's just for 1 out of 3 titles. Now, imagine playing 2 additional games of that caliber in one package...and that's what you get in Metroid Prime Trilogy.
I highly recommend this game. This is how the Wii is meant to be played by FPS enthusiasts everywhere. Keep it up Nintendo and 3rd party software vendors...please take notes!!

"A good question that deserved deliberation. With all three top rated games in one package for less than $50."
