I purchased this game prior to release date and received a $20 credit towards another game on Amazon which was a great incentive to buy. I like Rockstar's games and really enjoyed the gameplay of GTA4. RDR is GTA4 meets Oregon Trail. It is extremely fun, creative, and the storyline, acting, voiceovers, etc. are great. It is everything I hoped for and is a refreshing break from military and gangster based games. You'll have fun wrecking havoc in the wild wild west and will hopefully become engulfed in the storyline as well. Another bonus is the wide open online game play which in itself present hours of additional fun. This is a great buy
Growing up watching wild western movies such as "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly", this game epitomizes the Wild West. Red Dead Redemption is developer Rockstar's attempt on creating a version of its other popular signature series, Grand Theft Auto, at putting it into a different time period and genre.
I've played the GTA games and if you are a fan, then this game is a treat. Red Dead Redemption's graphics are on par with GTA but is more vibrant and the scenery is much more expansive. Also, being back in the early 20th century where horseback and hunting were still rampant in the west, this game has it all.
What doesn't this game include? Besides the typical mission quests to advance the story, there is plenty to do from mini games such as playing Texas Hold'em to collecting items to having a signature duel for the fastest gunslinger draw.
If you have time, this game definitely has enough things for you to explore. Without even advancing the story, you are able to have enough to do from exploring the world.
Only downside so far it seems the game can be choppy and slow to load at times. I wished the character had a bit more gameplay animation where your able to climb and touch the environment like the Assassin's Creed games. Other then that, it is what I've expected.
A graphically beautiful game that has plenty to do for you to waste time on living in a virtual wild west!
This game is one of the best games I have ever put into a gaming console. It takes everything good from GTA IV and makes it better. This is THE Western themed game to own. Easily a 2010 game of the year candidate if not the winner.
