My two sons and I are really enjoying the Playstation 3 version of FIFA 10. We set up tournaments using random teams and find that we are competetively talented, so that the majority of games are decided by one goal. The game is easy to learn and play, yet there are ball handling and maneuvering skills you can learn and utilize to improve your game. The game is totally immersive, providing a realistic gaming experience. When the boys aren't around, I have set up a 15 year manager league, which has taught me a lot about the rules and intricacies of the game of football (soccer). Now if only EA would come out with a great horse racing simulation,I'd be ecstatic.
I have been playing Fifa ever since the version from Playstation 1, "Fifa 1998: Road to the World Cup"
By far, game play has been the same, little things changed here and there. For example, before you can do perfect shots and passes, etc every time, but now, as the game evolved, it has gotten a lot more difficult. All buttons are pressure sensitive, which makes this game that much more real. This game (i always play on difficulty World Class) is by far one of the most challenging. Goals are much harder to score, and goalies actually are pretty good on this game. Not only that, but you can customize how you want your team to play, you can customize their tactics on the field (and no, i am not talking about how you push the D-Pad up, down, left, or right during game play). Not only that, but when a player is fatigued it actually shows it, this helps you to see if your player should continue playing or be subbed out.
The only downside to other games is that goals are easier to score and do not challenge you as much. For example, on Pro Evolution Soccer you just take your winger down the line, into the box, let the goalie rush you, give a through ball to your forward and score. For the fact that the goalie is not yet perfected on that game, because 70% of the time the goalie will not dive on those through balls, nor will the goalie come out of the box if the cross is near him (Fifa has this covered).
I figured out the best 32 Teams on this game already, and i always just play my custom tournaments with these teams:
Barclay's Premier League: Aston Villa, Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United.
Bundesliga: Bayern Munich, VFL Wolfsburg.
International: Argentina, Brazil, England, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Turkey
LBBVA: Atletico Madrid, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Sevilla FC, Valencia CF, Villarreal CF.
League Portugeses: FC Porto
Ligue 1: FCGB
Serie A: AC Milan, Inter, Juventus, Roma
Overall, an excellent game, if you want a soccer game that is challenging, and the controls as close to realistic, then get this game, only real gamers/soccer players will be able to score magnificent goals on World Class, otherwise if you do not want the challenge, go with the simple game called Pro Evolution Soccer, take it down the line, let keeper rush you, give through ball, and score easily (every time on any difficulty).
have been playing this since release in the US.
have to say, if you love the sport, you would no doubt love this game.
some of the best aspects i have loved so far are->
1. virtual pro with game face with attributes that grow according to accomplishment.
2. pro ranked matches - though i have not yet been able to actually join a club the ranked matches are so much fun.
3. head to head online mode with a good ranking mechanism.
4. pass and move and asking for runs from players around you. this is truly exceptional at times.
5. chipped through balls and throughballs gives the game the dynamic nature it is supposed to have.
aspects that have pissed me off->
1. game crashes in online pro ranked matches.
2. the second wind or come from behind, makes the ai change such that how ever good you defend you would end up letting in goals during dying moments if the opponent is decently good, works for your advantage other way round too. though this can be painfully true in real life too. its more to depict nerves in a real scenario.
3. not enough time on ball to use skill moves. skill moves was supposed to be one of the most important addition to this fifa compared to 09. but still as before the opponent can pressure so fast and so hard that doing skill moves is still tough and when against good opponents very difficult to execute.
4. manager mode has lost its charm and is more like an extra feature than what used to be a staple in the fifa gaming. assistant manager kinda pisses you off as he changes your squad selection as and when he likes if he is turned on.
overall though, the game is anything more than u can expect of bar these very few glitches. love the sport, love this game! first time on PS3 for me on this and am hooked. 2 months+ still going strong :)
