First of all I have never been a first person shooter fan. EVER!. I was always only and purely an rpg man. But ever since (square) (enix) united and took over the final fantasy realm I have been at a lose. Even after XIII. But I guess I dont care any more becaus this game gave me my fix. I am addicted and fascinated. I am of the older rpg generation where turn passed ruled. I am sold on Fallout 3
So I was hyped to play the expansion packs finally. I got my copy, started playing it and after mqaybe 40 minutes the problems started. I enterd the Point Lookout area and started having massive framerate drops and freezing. The first time it happened in VATS, but the game unfroze after a few seconds. Ok I thought, maybe just a one-time thing. Less than a minute later, the game freezes again. This time though, it stayed frozen, causing me to do a hard reset on my PS3. I gave it another shot and still got the same issues.
After letting the game collect dust, I recently tried another DLC, this time The Pitt. I got maybe 10 minutes in and had yet again massive framerate issues. This eventually led to a frozen game. What is going on here?
I have tried everything to fix this. Started in safe mode and restored file system. Reinstalled the Game Data numerous times, tried saving often, but all to no avail. The worst part is that vanilla Fallout 3 works perfect, except for the occasional 1-second pause, which rarely ever happens and always fixes itself. Bethesda is also no help, as they advised me to do the things which I had already tried. Eventually, Bethesda said to check their site often for patch news and that was the last I heard from Bethesda.
Put simply, the GOTY edition for PS3 is broken beyond belief. Avoid this at all costs, or buy it for the 360 or PC. Numerous other PS3 owners of the GOTY edition report these same problems. As stated above, the original Fallout 3 works perfectly, along with every other game and Blu-Ray movie, so it is not my PS3. Avoid this on PS3 or buy at your own risk. Me, I ordered it for PC, because there are patches which make the PC GOTY very playable and because of mods.
I never owned fallout before the GOTY, and as of right now, I havent experienced the trouble that others are reporting. I only have about 2 maybe 3 hours of gameplay in right now, so it may be too early to tell. I wonder how big the hard drives are for those having trouble.
The game is wonderful, I really cant find any complaints with it. Give me a few more weeks and I will come back and do an update.

Ok. The game does freeze up, but I think I found out why.
1. sometimes I play while I'm connected to teh playstation network and in chat it will freeze if I try to send a message or something. But that is really not the game itself.
2. I found myself playing for quite awhile the other day. Lets say almost 9 hours straight. The game actually froze up on me and I cut it off, granted I played for 9 hours straight, (a lot of wasted time I know). It has frozen slightly a few times but this game is huge. I have not experienced anything like others are saying but as I keep playin I will keep yall updated. Also, I think I'm gonna delete some of the demos I have so I can have more room on my HDD.
I still give it 5 stars, because this game is excellent.
