Officially Licensed PS2 Wireless Controller - Silver (Playstation 2)
Officially Licensed PS2 Wireless Controller - Silver (Playstation 2) Reviews
So I saw this controller and I thought it was an official Dual-Shock II wireless. Turns out it was made by Katana but they have Sony's backing. I really like this controller so far. I haven't had it for too long but it works great. It comes in two parts, a wireless controller and a receiver. You plug the receiver into the controller port and turn on the PS2 and the controller. And then you sit ANYWHERE WHERE YOU WANT and enjoy the game. I'm not lying about that either. You can move pretty far with this. I have a large gaming room and I've been able to play at least from the other side of the room. It's kinda impractical to play so far away but it's nice to know that the signal is strong. Overall I've had the freedom to move around all around the area and I've still got a great signal. I have a really inconvenient table in the way of my consoles and I've even been able to get a signal even through the table. So I like that. It also never has any problems with the d-pad and it really just feels like the DSII. Without the cords I don't have to worry about the problems that occur when I `m playing. I get excited a lot and sometimes my controller pops out. I've been lucky that it hasn't done that while I've been saving or loading but really it helps that I don't have to worry anymore. As far as I can tell there are various vibration settings and I can tell that if you turned it up more then you'll have to sacrifice more battery life. But you can also turn it off. The only part that I'd worry about is if this happened. You'll know the battery's dying if the vibration stops. When that happens I'd advice you to quit playing and get some new batteries or recharge them or whatever you do. I have a theory that if let's say you run out of power and you're saving, it might be the same as removing the controller, which can corrupt data. The controller has a "sleep" mode when after five minutes of being idle it'll shut off. It's nice. Because at the very least the controller is not on all of the time draining all of my battery power.
There are Black, Silver, and Blue colors but heck that doesn't matter as long as there's never a pink. The only cons I can think of are that it's ever so slightly larger in comparison to the dual shock II but it's larger because of the battery pack. The sleep mode while nice is annoying for when you want to turn off the controller. So far I have to wait for to shut off even after I turn my PS2 off. I wish overall that there was a simple on/off mode or button or something. Other than that it's a very great controller. No problems yet but I don't expect any. It's worth the money.
Excellent product allows you to sit on your couch or bed while playing the PS2. I have had no trouble parring the device to the console and connection has not yet been interrupted during game play. The end of the receiver lights up blue to tell you that it is connected and functioning, or flashes if it cannot find the controller (ie, before inserting batteries). Additionally the controller has the vibrate on/off buttons to save battery life.
Closest thing I've found to a wireless DualShock on the ps2. Well what can I say about this officially licensed controller? It gets the job done. The controller feels cheap compared to any of the DualShocks, and it takes 3 AAA batteries. The only other problem is with the joysticks. The problem is that the surface is flat and it feels like your thumb might slip off, and also pressing the L3 and/or R3 makes it feel like the batteries might pop out. For your convenience here are my gripes in list form.
Pros:
-Works well
-Buttons are nice and responsive
Cons:
-Feels cheap
-3 AAA batteries
-Flat joysticks(feels like thumb might slip off)
If any of these problems is a detractor you might want to look elsewhere for a controller.
