I am a long-standing fan to the .hack series. I have loved every single game, and this one is no exception.
This game boasts several improvements over Vol. 1, including a faster bike with better handling, better fighting styles with the twin blades and broad swords, and the addition of the scythe. Not to mention the exceptionally engaging story, which picks up directly from the cliffhanger ending of Vol. 1. There are also more "playable" characters (by which I mean other people to add into your party).
One of the other things that I like about this game is the amount of space that the story takes up; I would guess that at least half of the game is cutscenes/dialogue. I suppose that might be a turn-off to a lot of people, but for me it helps the game to be even more enjoyable.
I highly recommend this game to any fans of action-RPGs, but the experience is much greater if you've played Vol. 1 first. Despite the fact that it doesn't end here, it's worth the wait for the third game.
Of course, things are even better if you've played the preceding series as well. If you have the money and the time, start from the beginning!

This game was by far one of the best i have ever played and trust me I have played A LOT of games let alone rpg's. I bought .hack//G.U. vol 1 and found it to be amazing but if i thought that one was good Vol 2 out did it by a long shot. The story line is anything but boring. The game leaves you on the edge of your seat wondering whats gonna happen next its hard to put the controller down. I played for 36 hours straight (which i NEVER do) because i couldnt put it down. I went through a lot trying to get this game and when i did it was well worth it.

This latest volume in the .hack series is, in my opinion, the best one so far. The story continues to be a gripping tale that keeps you wondering just what is the origin of all that has been going on. The story picks up right where volume one leaves off. Azure Kite has been defeated, but at what cost? What happens next is the last thing I would ever expect. You will have to play for yourself to find out just what I mean.
As with the previous .hack games, the game play in volume two has been upgraded to give you several new features. You can now upgrade your steam bike with new parts. You can take a break and play the Crimson Vs. card game. There have even been improvements to the battle system. Several new characters become available as party members. Volume two also adds two new area types for you to explore. The addition of one more field area and one more dungeon area give enough variety to keep the scenery changing.
This latest volume is a must have for any fan of the series. If you have played volume one, you have got to play volume two.
