"Great item! But i don't quite like the color of the shell. I prefer the black one!"
"This is a great gaming mouse. Adding the weight for what you need is great idea."
Very good and precice mouse. The scroll wheel has a button that can change it from smooth scrolling to choppy-normal scrolling (imagine flicking the scroll wheel and it scrolls for about 11-14 seconds before it stops).
I like the feature where you can increase the precision and sensitivity of the mouse with the 2 frontal buttons on the left side. These you can set to 5 different settings which would be good if you're doing photo editing and need the cursor to move more slowly to be more precice with the work. Also these buttons are located pretty nicely on the mouse so that there isn't a way to accidently increase/decrease the sensitivity.
the mouse feels/holds pretty well also -but most do. The one thing that was different about the casing/shell is the rough surface where your thumb, 4th and pinky fingers sit; this gives a better grip.
I'm extremely pleased with this.
I like the fact that there is company like Logitech who employ people who are gaming enthusiasts. Even though this is classified as a gaming mouse, it still has great appeal as an everyday mouse.
The feel of the mouse is comfortable to use. The construction is well made. The mouse is plug and play out of the box, but install the Setpoint software for additional control. The mouse and the software run on Windows 7 without any issues.
I have a G9 mouse but prefer the G500. The size of the G500 is slightly larger than the G9, which I like. The control of the cursor is smooth. You can switch the DPI's on the fly. You can also change between free wheel scrolling and click scrolling at the touch of a button on top! Great feature. There are side buttons that you can program.
You are supplied with a set of weights to customize your mouse. You can store your profiles in the mouse for portability in gaming.
The G500 is recommended as a game or everyday mouse.
The Logitech Gaming Mouse G500 is an upgrade of its G5 mouse in many ways.

In addition, the G500 has these features:
Ten programmable buttons, which include five side buttons (G5 has only two).
Dual-mode (with-click and without-click) scroll wheel with hyper-fast scrolling.
On-the-fly adjustable DPI from 200 to 5,700 dpi, in steps of 100 dpi.
Along the sides of the grip area, instead of the rubber-like feel of the G5, the G500 has a sort of like sand paper type of coarse surface. This is not a problem for me. Both kinds of grip surfaces are non-slip, but the rubber-like grip surface on the G5 and earlier mice may become sticky and uncomfortable to the touch in warm and humid climates.
As I use this mouse for both games and applications, I like the two buttons near the index finger which I program them to do scrolls up and down. Although there is the scroll wheel, I usually prefer buttons over the wheel for lesser effort and more precise control. In terms of durability, it is comforting to know that the G500's left and right buttons are rated for 8 million clicks and those tiny feet can travel up to 250 kilometers before wearing out! This mouse has a 3-year limited hardware warranty.
Overall, the ergonomics (shape of mouse, location and number of buttons, adjustable weight) of this mouse is much improved over the G5 and MX500/MX518. With even better specifications, you can really tune this mouse to your exact liking.
