This is a fun game. One problem I have found and I need to call the number on back of gamebox and tell someone about it. My game freezes on a part of the 3rd level. On the one where you have to take the cow to the pasture so the cars can go by. Everytime I get the cow over there the whole screen freezes up and I have to shut my DS off and restart it. Luckily you can just skip this puzzle. I havent come across this again, but then I am only on level 5 now. Other then that it is fun to play.
My 11 year old daughter loves this game. I love that it encourages her to be creative and requires her to write words. It gives her practice with spelling, because she has to spell the item she wants to use correctly, or at least get close to the proper spelling, after which she can select the correctly spelled word from a list. That was a bonus I hadn't anticipated.
I love trying to stump the game. Lots of laughs when we tried to get rid of a t-rex using God. The t-rex ate him...sacrilicious.
Bought two of these games for gifts for my nephews based on other reviews and they were a big hit, lots of fun.
This game asks you to use your imagination to solve it's puzzles and the possibilities are endless. This is a new type of gameplay perfect for the DS. A must have for DS owners.
I recently bought this game for my sister, hearing from friends and reviews that it was unique. The game's big feature is it's massive dictionary which is used to create an interactive model of almost any word you type in. The object can then be used to help you progress through a level. It's an interesting concept, and I was completely impressed by the amount of words in the game's dictionary. The actual gameplay, however, can be a bit frustrating at times, simply because your character doesn't always do what you want him to do (largely due to the touch screen controls).
Although the game's controls can be frustrating, overall it's a fun experience. I'd try this game simply to experiment with all the different words you can use.
If your going to buy this game you better be creative at problem solving. It is a BLAST!
My grandsons age 8 & 10 declared in fun and that they play it often.
You can write anything you want into existence. It's like cheating--yet it is part of the game. It is only limited by your own imagination. What's even better is that if you write in the large hadron collider and then turn it on, it creates a black hole. AWESOME.
This is one of the most unique video games I have played in a long time. It requires a lot of thinking "out of the box". I didn't get to play it for long since my 10 year-old son took it and kept it for months!
But it has many ways to challenge the user on each lever, beating a time, coming up with unique items, etc.
There are lots of levels and many ways to jump back and forth in the game. The amount of items you can draw is unbelievable and must have taken a huge team of gamers to create.
It certainly allows for a lot of creativity and fun in getting through the game.
I bought this for my 9-year old boy, and he really enjoyed it - it's also a great way for him to practice spelling. I actually liked it too (I'm 48), as it's fun to make up stuff and see how the game interacts with your creations.
My 9 year old and 6 year old can't get enough of this game. They love to type in words and see what falls from the sky. The number of things you can tell it to draw is amazing. And my kids normally type the words on a keypad instead of trying to write the words. You can go through levels with figuring out challenges to get to each level or you can just mess around typing out what you want the game to draw. My son loves the game Drawn to life and I think it might be pretty similar in style. It's a must have for kids.
I ordered this game for my 10 year old. Sounded like a game that would really make him think and get creative. He didn't seem to like it at first. It's slow to get started because there's a lot to learn about how to play. But once he got thru the training, he really liked it. I'm now addicted! We like talking about how we cleared a board and what tools/objects we used. Sometimes we think a like, sometimes we use two totally different strategies. I highly recommend this game!!
Scribblenauts did not seem like much to me when I received it for x-mas, but it didn't take long for me to realize what an amazing concept this game has. The creators have designed seemingly thousands of objects from aardvarks to zippers and it gives you access to any of them at any time to solve the puzzle. Though often times I found myself grabbing the 'Pegasus' and 'Rope' to defeat several of them. The game rewards you for finding other ways to defeat puzzles which is where the real challenge lies. It's also interesting to see how others solve the same puzzle especially when it something you didn't even know you could create.
My kid had trouble in spelling (He's 7, 8 now). Over a 3-day weekend, he was spelling words like "space ship" "ghost" and "giant". And, he has a slight learning disability. Score, Scribblenauts...you made spelling cool.
